Salary Scout in action

  1. User: What do data analysts get paid in New York, San Francisco, Chicago and Austin?

  2. Salary Scout: I ran Salary Benchmark for Data Analyst in those four cities. Of the 40 postings on Google Jobs, 21 show pay. San Francisco has the highest median, about $135,000 a year, then Chicago at about $120,000, Austin at about $90,000 and New York at about $88,000, though New York's postings range from $70,000 to $180,000. Each city has only 5 or 6 postings with pay, so read these as a first benchmark. I saved one row per city in your Benchmarks table and opened it on the By location view. Want it per hour, or only senior roles?

What it does for you

  • Benchmarks posted pay for a role in up to 4 locations
  • Turns hourly, monthly and yearly pay into one period and currency
  • Says how many postings show pay, so you know how solid a number is
  • Narrows to a level or counts similar job titles together
  • Saves each benchmark to your Benchmarks table and opens it for you

The applications it runs
