YOURLS integration

YOURLS self-hosted URL shortener API: shorten a long URL with an optional custom keyword, expand a short URL back to its target, read the click statistics of one short URL, list the top, bottom, newest or random links, read the global link and click totals, and report the running YOURLS version. The whole API is a single endpoint driven by an action parameter, and this integration covers the six actions YOURLS ships with; anything else on a given install comes from a plugin. The credential carries the instance host and the account credentials.

Ask it in chat

Say what should happen.
The workflow builds itself.

When this happens, do that in YOURLS.Built from the 6 YOURLS tools below, on the connection you add once.

Common YOURLS use cases

  • shortening a campaign link before posting it
  • reporting the most clicked links of an install
  • reporting how many clicks a campaign link received
  • checking where a short link points before publishing it
  • reporting the overall size and traffic of a shortener install
  • confirming the credential reaches the install before doing real work
  • resolving a keyword found in a log
  • listing the links created most recently
  • creating a branded short link with a chosen keyword
  • checking the version before relying on a newer behaviour

What you can do with YOURLS

Each of these is one operation on one endpoint, available both as a workflow step and as a tool an AI agent can call on its own. Nothing bundles several operations into one action, so what a run did stays readable afterwards.

Most endpoints run on the free plan. A few, mainly the ones that publish on your behalf, need a paid plan.

Short url, 4 operations

  • expand_urlExpand urlGETResolves a short URL or keyword back to the long URL it points at.
  • get_url_statsGet url statsGETReads the click count and stored details of one short URL.
  • list_link_statsList link statsGETLists short URLs ranked by clicks or recency, with the global totals.
  • shorten_urlShorten urlGETCreates a short URL for a long URL, optionally with a chosen keyword.

Stats, 1 operation

  • get_db_statsGet db statsGETReads how many short URLs exist and how many clicks they have received.

Version, 1 operation

  • get_versionGet versionGETReports the YOURLS version the install is running.

Use YOURLS from Claude Code, Cursor or Codex

Connect YOURLS in LiveContext, create an API key in Settings, then add the LiveContext MCP server to your client. Its YOURLS operations become tools the client can call, next to every other integration you connected.

Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http livecontext https://livecontext.ai/mcp --header "X-API-Key: YOUR_API_KEY"

How to connect YOURLS

  1. Create your workspace

Sign up free. Nothing to install.

  2. Connect YOURLS once

Add your YOURLS connection in Settings. Every tool from this integration reuses it, and secrets are encrypted at rest and visible only to you.

  3. Describe the job in chat

The workflow builds itself in front of you and picks the endpoints it needs. Drag the steps yourself on the canvas whenever you would rather be explicit.
