OpenMeter is an open-source usage metering and billing platform for AI and SaaS products, self-hosted or run on OpenMeter Cloud. Ingest usage events in CloudEvents form and read them back; define meters with their aggregation and group-by keys, query them over time windows and list their subjects and group-by values; manage customers and subjects, features, and metered, boolean and static entitlements with their grants, usage resets, overrides, history and current value in both the v1 subject-scoped and v2 customer-scoped shapes; build a product catalogue of plans and their addons with publish, archive and next-draft-version steps, and drive subscriptions through create, edit, change, migrate, cancel, unschedule-cancelation and restore; run billing with billing profiles, billing customers, pending invoice lines, invoice simulation, and invoices you can advance, approve, retry, recalculate taxes on, snapshot quantities for, void or delete; install and configure marketplace apps including the Stripe app, its API key, checkout sessions and customer portal sessions; drive custom invoicing by submitting draft and issuing synchronization results and payment status; configure notification channels, rules and their test runs and read or resend notification events; and mint, list and invalidate consumer portal tokens that let end customers query their own usage. The host is part of the credential because every install is its own deployment. Authentication is an OpenMeter API token sent as a bearer token.
