MSG91 integration

MSG91 API v5 for transactional messaging in India and beyond: send template-based SMS through a Flow, run the full one-time-password cycle (send, verify, retry over text or voice) and read the account balance. The auth key travels in the authkey header on every call. Both SMS and OTP require a DLT-approved template registered in the MSG91 panel.

Ask it in chat

Say what should happen.
The workflow builds itself.

When this happens, do that in MSG91.Built from the 5 MSG91 tools below, on the connection you add once.

Common MSG91 use cases

  • alerting when SMS credit runs low
  • sending an order confirmation SMS
  • starting a phone-number verification flow
  • completing a phone-number verification flow
  • offering a voice fallback when the SMS never arrives
  • sending a login code to a user
  • checking credit before a bulk send
  • gating a login on a valid SMS code
  • letting a user ask for the code again
  • notifying a list of customers with personalised variables

What you can do with MSG91

Each of these is one operation on one endpoint, available both as a workflow step and as a tool an AI agent can call on its own. Nothing bundles several operations into one action, so what a run did stays readable afterwards.

Most endpoints run on the free plan. A few, mainly the ones that publish on your behalf, need a paid plan.

Otp, 3 operations

  • retry_otpRetry otpPOSTRe-delivers the one-time password already generated for a number.
  • send_otpSend otpPOSTSends an MSG91 one-time password to a mobile number.
  • verify_otpVerify otpGETChecks whether a one-time password matches the one MSG91 sent to a number.

Balance, 1 operation

  • get_balanceGet balanceGETReads the remaining SMS, voice and wallet credit of the MSG91 account.

Sms, 1 operation

  • send_flow_smsSend flow smsPOSTSends an MSG91 Flow SMS to a list of recipients with per-recipient variables.

Use MSG91 from Claude Code, Cursor or Codex

Connect MSG91 in LiveContext, create an API key in Settings, then add the LiveContext MCP server to your client. Its MSG91 operations become tools the client can call, next to every other integration you connected.

Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http livecontext https://livecontext.ai/mcp --header "X-API-Key: YOUR_API_KEY"
Codex (~/.codex/config.toml)

How to connect MSG91

  1. Create your workspace

Sign up free. Nothing to install.

  2. Connect MSG91 once

Add your MSG91 connection in Settings. Every tool from this integration reuses it, and secrets are encrypted at rest and visible only to you.

  3. Describe the job in chat

The workflow builds itself in front of you and picks the endpoints it needs. Drag the steps yourself on the canvas whenever you would rather be explicit.
