Mandrill integration

Mandrill, the Mailchimp Transactional API, for one-to-one transactional email: send a message or a stored template, search the send history, read the metadata and the rendered content of a delivered message, manage subaccounts, create, read and render templates, and check that the key works. Every call is a POST and the API key travels inside the JSON body.

Common Mandrill use cases

  • sending password reset emails
  • confirming that a receipt was opened
  • previewing a template before a campaign
  • validating the key at the start of a run
  • reproducing the email a customer received
  • provisioning templates from source control
  • checking whether a customer received an email
  • finding the slug of a template before sending
  • cleaning up a subaccount when a customer leaves
  • giving each customer its own sending reputation

What you can do with Mandrill

Each of these is one operation on one endpoint, available both as a workflow step and as a tool an AI agent can call on its own. Nothing bundles several operations into one action, so what a run did stays readable afterwards.

Most endpoints run on the free plan. A few, mainly the ones that publish on your behalf, need a paid plan.

Message, 5 operations

  • POSTget_message_content

Reads the exact body, headers and attachments that were delivered.

  • POSTget_message_info

Reads the status, opens and clicks of a sent message.

  • POSTsearch_messages

Finds sent messages by recipient, sender, tag or full text.

  • POSTsend_message

Delivers a message composed inline and reports the outcome per recipient.

  • POSTsend_template

Delivers a stored template to recipients, filling in its editable regions.

Subaccount, 4 operations

  • POSTcreate_subaccount

Adds a subaccount that sends can be attributed to.

  • POSTdelete_subaccount

Removes a subaccount and returns its final record.

  • POSTget_subaccount

Reads the status, quota and recent statistics of a subaccount.

  • POSTlist_subaccounts

Returns every subaccount with its status and send counters.

Template, 4 operations

  • POSTcreate_template

Adds a template and optionally publishes it straight away.

  • POSTget_template

Reads the draft and published content of a template.

  • POSTlist_templates

Returns every template with both its draft and its published content.

  • POSTrender_template

Returns the HTML a template produces for a given set of values.

Account, 2 operations

  • POSTget_account_info

Reads the account username, quota, backlog and send statistics.

  • POSTping

    Confirms the credential works.

Use Mandrill from Claude Code, Cursor or Codex

Connect Mandrill in LiveContext, create an API key in Settings, then add the LiveContext MCP server to your client. Its Mandrill operations become tools the client can call, next to every other integration you connected.

How to connect Mandrill

  1. Create your workspace

Sign up free. Nothing to install.

  2. Connect Mandrill once

Add your Mandrill connection in Settings. Every tool from this integration reuses it, and secrets are encrypted at rest and visible only to you.

  3. Describe the job in chat

The workflow builds itself in front of you and picks the endpoints it needs. Drag the steps yourself on the canvas whenever you would rather be explicit.
