Integration

KoboToolbox integration

KoboToolbox projects through the v2 API: list and read assets (the survey forms), read, filter and delete their submissions, set a submission's validation status, read daily submission counts, deploy or redeploy a form, and create and collect data exports. The server host is part of the connection, so the same integration serves the global server, the European server and a self-hosted deployment.

Ask it in chat

Say what should happen.
The workflow builds itself.

When this happens, do that in KoboToolbox.Built from the 14 KoboToolbox tools below, on the connection you add once.

Common KoboToolbox use cases

  • deploying a form a workflow just created
  • pulling survey responses into a workflow
  • reusing an export that was produced recently
  • producing a CSV of every submission of a survey
  • checking whether a form is still collecting data
  • removing a test submission after validating a form
  • waiting for an export to finish before downloading it
  • reading question names before interpreting submission data
  • publishing an edit to a form that is already collecting data
  • re-reading a submission after changing its validation status

What you can do with KoboToolbox

Each of these is one operation on one endpoint, available both as a workflow step and as a tool an AI agent can call on its own. Nothing bundles several operations into one action, so what a run did stays readable afterwards.

Most endpoints run on the free plan. A few, mainly the ones that publish on your behalf, need a paid plan.

Deployment, 3 operations

  • deploy_assetDeploy assetPOSTDeploys a form and reports the version that went live.
  • get_deploymentGet deploymentGETReports whether a form is deployed and which version is live.
  • redeploy_assetRedeploy assetPATCHPublishes the latest version of a deployed form, or toggles collection on and off.

Export, 3 operations

  • create_exportCreate exportPOSTStarts an export of a project's submissions and returns the task to poll.
  • get_exportGet exportGETReturns an export task so its progress can be polled and its file collected.
  • list_exportsList exportsGETReturns the export tasks of a project with their status and result URL.

Submission, 3 operations

  • delete_submissionDelete submissionDELETEDeletes a single submission and its attachments from a project.
  • get_submissionGet submissionGETReturns a single submission with its answers and system fields.
  • list_submissionsList submissionsGETReturns the submissions of a project one page at a time.

Asset, 2 operations

  • get_assetGet assetGETReturns a single asset, including its survey content and deployment counters.
  • list_assetsList assetsGETReturns the account's assets (surveys, blocks, templates) one page at a time.

Validation status, 2 operations

  • get_validation_statusGet validation statusGETReturns the validation status a reviewer set on a submission.
  • set_validation_statusSet validation statusPATCHMarks a submission approved, not approved or on hold.

Submission count, 1 operation

  • get_submission_countsGet submission countsGETReturns per day submission counts, up to the last 31 days.

Use KoboToolbox from Claude Code, Cursor or Codex

Connect KoboToolbox in LiveContext, create an API key in Settings, then add the LiveContext MCP server to your client. Its KoboToolbox operations become tools the client can call, next to every other integration you connected.

How to connect KoboToolbox

  1. Create your workspace

Sign up free. Nothing to install.

  2. Connect KoboToolbox once

Add your KoboToolbox connection in Settings. Every tool from this integration reuses it, and secrets are encrypted at rest and visible only to you.

  3. Describe the job in chat

The workflow builds itself in front of you and picks the endpoints it needs. Drag the steps yourself on the canvas whenever you would rather be explicit.
