Common Firebase Authentication use cases

  • account settings
  • password reset
  • user login
  • get profile
  • email change
  • guest access
  • social login
  • complete reset
  • code validation
  • forgot password

What you can do with Firebase Authentication

Each of these is one operation on one endpoint, available both as a workflow step and as a tool an AI agent can call on its own. Nothing bundles several operations into one action, so what a run did stays readable afterwards.

Most endpoints run on the free plan. A few, mainly the ones that publish on your behalf, need a paid plan.

  • POSTchange_email

    Changes the email address for the currently signed-in user.

  • POSTchange_password

    Changes the password for the currently signed-in user.

  • POSTconfirm_email_verification

    Confirms email verification using the OOB code from the verification email.

  • POSTconfirm_password_reset

    Confirms a password reset using the OOB code from the reset email.

  • POSTdelete_account

    Permanently deletes the user account associated with the ID token.

  • POSTfetch_providers

    Returns the list of sign-in methods available for a given email address.

  • POSTget_user_data

    Retrieves user account information using a valid ID token.

  • POSTlink_email_password

    Links email/password credentials to an existing account (e.g., anonymous user).

  • POSTrefresh_token

    Exchanges a refresh token for a new ID token. Use when the ID token expires.

  • POSTsend_email_signin_link

    Sends a sign-in link to the user's email for passwordless authentication.

  • POSTsend_email_verification

    Sends an email verification link to the user's email address.

  • POSTsend_password_reset

    Sends a password reset email to the specified email address.

  • POSTsign_in_anonymous

    Creates an anonymous user session. Returns ID token without requiring credentials.

  • POSTsign_in_custom_token

    Authenticates a user with a custom Auth token created by the developer.

  • POSTsign_in_oauth

    Authenticates a user with an OAuth credential from providers like Google or Facebook.

  • POSTsign_in_password

    Authenticates a user with email and password. Returns ID token and user info.

  • POSTsign_up

    Creates a new user account with email and password. Returns ID token and refresh token.

  • POSTunlink_provider

    Unlinks a sign-in provider from the user's account.

  • POSTupdate_profile

    Updates user profile information like display name and photo URL.

  • POSTverify_password_reset_code

    Verifies that a password reset code is valid without consuming it.

Firebase Authentication API rate limits

  • 100 requests per second

Rate limits apply per project. Higher limits available for paid plans.

These are the limits Firebase Authentication documents, not ones LiveContext measured. They can change and often depend on your plan, so check the Firebase Authentication documentation for current values.

Use Firebase Authentication from Claude Code, Cursor or Codex

Connect Firebase Authentication in LiveContext, create an API key in Settings, then add the LiveContext MCP server to your client. Its Firebase Authentication operations become tools the client can call, next to every other integration you connected.

Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http livecontext https://livecontext.ai/mcp --header "X-API-Key: YOUR_API_KEY"
Codex (~/.codex/config.toml)
[mcp_servers.livecontext]
url = "https://livecontext.ai/mcp"

[mcp_servers.livecontext.http_headers]
"X-API-Key" = "YOUR_API_KEY"
Cursor, Claude Desktop and other JSON configs

  "mcpServers": {
    "livecontext": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://livecontext.ai/mcp",
      "headers": {
        "X-API-Key": "YOUR_API_KEY"
      }
    }
  }
}

How to connect Firebase Authentication

  1. Create your workspace

    Sign up free. Nothing to install.

  2. Connect Firebase Authentication once

    Add your Firebase Authentication connection in Settings. Every tool from this integration reuses it, and secrets are encrypted at rest and visible only to you.

  3. Describe the job in chat

    The workflow builds itself in front of you and picks the endpoints it needs. Drag the steps yourself on the canvas whenever you would rather be explicit.
