What you can do with Daily

Each of these is one operation on one endpoint, available both as a workflow step and as a tool an AI agent can call on its own. Nothing bundles several operations into one action, so what a run did stays readable afterwards.

Most endpoints run on the free plan. A few, mainly the ones that publish on your behalf, need a paid plan.

Room, 5 operations

create_roomCreate roomPOSTCreates a new video room. Configure name, privacy (public/private/org), and features like recording, screenshare, chat. Returns room URL for joining.
delete_roomDelete roomDELETEDeletes a room permanently. Active participants are immediately ejected. Room name becomes available for reuse. Rate limited to ~2 req/s.
get_roomGet roomGETGets room details by name. Returns configuration, URL, creation date, and current properties. Only non-default config values are included.
list_roomsList roomsGETLists all rooms in your Daily domain. Returns room names, URLs, and configurations. Supports cursor pagination with max 100 per page.
update_roomUpdate roomPOSTUpdates room configuration. Change privacy, participant limits, and feature settings. Returns the updated room object.

Webhook, 5 operations

list_meetingsList meetingsGETList past and ongoing meeting sessions for your domain. Returns session IDs, room names, start time, duration, and participant counts.

Presence, 2 operations

get_domain_presenceGet domain presenceGETGets all active participants across all rooms in your domain. Returns presence data grouped by room name. Query no more than once per 15 seconds.
get_room_presenceGet room presenceGETGets current participants in a room. Returns user IDs, names, join times, and session info. Shows who is in the call right now.

Token, 2 operations

create_meeting_tokenCreate meeting tokenPOSTCreates a meeting token for room access. Set user identity, permissions, and expiration. Required for private rooms. Returns a JWT token string.
validate_meeting_tokenValidate meeting tokenGETValidates a meeting token and returns its properties. Only works for tokens from your domain. Returns error if expired or invalid.

Message, 1 operation

send_app_messageSend app messagePOSTSends a custom message to room participants. Broadcast to all or specific users. Triggers app-message event on clients.
