Azure Functions integration

Azure Functions management API via Azure Resource Manager. Create, manage, and configure serverless function apps, deploy code, manage app settings, and monitor function execution.

Ask it in chat

Say what should happen.
The workflow builds itself.

When this happens, do that in Azure Functions.Built from the 20 Azure Functions tools below, on the connection you add once.

Common Azure Functions use cases

  • automate function app management
  • automate function management
  • automate app setting management
  • swap slot programmatically
  • get function programmatically
  • list function programmatically
  • delete function programmatically
  • get function app programmatically
  • list app setting programmatically
  • list function app programmatically

What you can do with Azure Functions

Each of these is one operation on one endpoint, available both as a workflow step and as a tool an AI agent can call on its own. Nothing bundles several operations into one action, so what a run did stays readable afterwards.

Most endpoints run on the free plan. A few, mainly the ones that publish on your behalf, need a paid plan.

Function app, 7 operations

  • delete_function_appDelete function appDELETEPermanently delete a function app and optionally its associated metrics and empty App Service Plan.
  • get_function_appGet function appGETGet the details of a specific function app, including its configuration, state, and metadata.
  • list_function_appsList function appsGETList all App Service apps in a subscription (web, mobile, API and function apps). The API does not filter server-side: function apps are the entries whose returned kind contains 'functionapp', so filter on that field.
  • restart_function_appRestart function appPOSTRestart a function app, applying any pending configuration changes and clearing in-memory state.
  • start_function_appStart function appPOSTStart a stopped function app to resume processing incoming requests and trigger executions.
  • stop_function_appStop function appPOSTStop a running function app. The app will not accept new requests or execute triggers while stopped.
  • update_function_appUpdate function appPATCHPartially update an existing function app using a JSON merge patch. Only provided fields are modified.

Function, 3 operations

  • delete_functionDelete functionDELETEDelete a specific function from a function app. The function code and bindings are removed permanently.
  • get_functionGet functionGETGet the details of a specific function within a function app, including its trigger bindings and configuration.
  • list_functionsList functionsGETList all individual functions defined within a specific function app.

App setting, 2 operations

  • list_app_settingsList app settingsPOSTRetrieve all application settings (environment variables) for a function app as key-value pairs.
  • update_app_settingsUpdate app settingsPUTReplace all application settings for a function app. The provided properties object becomes the complete set of app settings, overwriting any existing values.

Deployment slot, 1 operation

  • list_deployment_slotsList deployment slotsGETList all deployment slots for a function app. Slots allow staging, testing, and zero-downtime deployments.

Function apps in resource group, 1 operation

  • list_function_apps_in_resource_groupList function apps in resource groupGETList all App Service apps in a resource group (web, mobile, API and function apps). The API does not filter server-side: function apps are the entries whose returned kind contains 'functionapp', so filter on that field.

Function host key, 1 operation

  • get_function_host_keysGet function host keysPOSTRetrieve all host-level keys for a function app, including the default key and any named keys used to authenticate HTTP-triggered functions.

Function key, 1 operation

  • list_function_keysList function keysPOSTList keys for a specific function within a function app. Returns function-level keys (not host-level keys).

Function trigger, 1 operation

  • sync_function_triggersSync function triggersPOSTTrigger a sync of function definitions and bindings from the deployed code. Required after manual deployments to update the Azure Functions runtime's view of available triggers.

Or update function app, 1 operation

  • create_or_update_function_appCreate or update function appPUTCreate a new function app or fully replace an existing one. Provide a complete Site resource definition including location, kind, and properties.

Publishing credential, 1 operation

  • get_publishing_credentialsGet publishing credentialsPOSTRetrieve the publishing credentials (FTP and Web Deploy username/password) for a function app, used for deploying code directly.

Slot, 1 operation

  • swap_slotSwap slotPOSTSwap a deployment slot with another slot (e.g., promote staging to production). Optionally preserves virtual network settings during the swap.

Use Azure Functions from Claude Code, Cursor or Codex

Connect Azure Functions in LiveContext, create an API key in Settings, then add the LiveContext MCP server to your client. Its Azure Functions operations become tools the client can call, next to every other integration you connected.

Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http livecontext https://livecontext.ai/mcp --header "X-API-Key: YOUR_API_KEY"
Codex (~/.codex/config.toml)
[mcp_servers.livecontext]
url = "https://livecontext.ai/mcp"

[mcp_servers.livecontext.http_headers]
"X-API-Key" = "YOUR_API_KEY"
Cursor, Claude Desktop and other JSON configs
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "livecontext": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://livecontext.ai/mcp",
      "headers": {
        "X-API-Key": "YOUR_API_KEY"
      }
    }
  }
}

Set up the MCP server step by step

How to connect Azure Functions

  1. Create your workspace

    Sign up free. Nothing to install.

  2. Connect Azure Functions once

    Add your Azure Functions connection in Settings. Every tool from this integration reuses it, and secrets are encrypted at rest and visible only to you.

  3. Describe the job in chat

    The workflow builds itself in front of you and picks the endpoints it needs. Drag the steps yourself on the canvas whenever you would rather be explicit.
