AWS EventBridge integration
Amazon EventBridge serverless event bus API. Create and manage event buses, rules, and targets to route events between AWS services, SaaS apps, and custom applications.
Common AWS EventBridge use cases
- automate rule management
- automate archive management
- automate event bus management
- automate replay management
- automate target management
- automate resource management
- find rules by target ARN
- put rule programmatically
- list rule programmatically
- put event programmatically
What you can do with AWS EventBridge
Each of these is one operation on one endpoint, available both as a workflow step and as a tool an AI agent can call on its own. Nothing bundles several operations into one action, so what a run did stays readable afterwards.
Most endpoints run on the free plan. A few, mainly the ones that publish on your behalf, need a paid plan.
Rule, 7 operations
- POSTdelete_rule
Delete an EventBridge rule. Before deleting a rule, remove all targets from it using RemoveTargets. Use Force=true to delete a managed rule.
- POSTdescribe_rule
Retrieve the details of an EventBridge rule including its event pattern or schedule, state, description, and associated event bus.
- POSTdisable_rule
Disable an EventBridge rule so it no longer matches incoming events. The rule remains in place but is inactive until re-enabled.
- POSTenable_rule
Enable a previously disabled EventBridge rule so it resumes matching incoming events and triggering its configured targets.
- POSTlist_rule_names_by_target
List the names of EventBridge rules associated with a specific target ARN on an event bus.
- POSTlist_rules
List EventBridge rules on a specified event bus. Optionally filter by name prefix. Returns up to 100 rules per call with pagination support.
- POSTput_rule
Create or update an EventBridge rule that matches incoming events based on a schedule expression or an event pattern. The rule can be enabled or disabled and optionally tagged.
Archive, 5 operations
- POSTcreate_archive
Create an EventBridge archive to retain events from an event bus. Archived events can be replayed at any time. You can filter which events are archived using an event pattern.
- POSTdelete_archive
Delete an EventBridge archive permanently. All events stored in the archive are also deleted. This action is irreversible.
- POSTdescribe_archive
Retrieve details about an EventBridge archive including its state, size in bytes, event count, retention policy, and associated event source.
- POSTlist_archives
List EventBridge archives in the account and region. Filter by name prefix, event source ARN, or archive state.
- POSTupdate_archive
Update an existing EventBridge archive to change its description, event filter pattern, or retention policy.
Event bus, 5 operations
- POSTcreate_event_bus
Create a custom EventBridge event bus. Custom buses let you route events from your own applications or SaaS integrations separately from the default AWS event bus.
- POSTdelete_event_bus
Delete a custom EventBridge event bus. You cannot delete the default event bus. All rules and targets on the bus must be removed first.
- POSTdescribe_event_bus
Retrieve details about an EventBridge event bus including its name, ARN, and resource-based policy.
- POSTlist_event_buses
List all custom event buses in the account and region. Optionally filter by name prefix. Returns up to 100 buses per call.
- POSTupdate_event_bus
Update the configuration of an existing EventBridge event bus, including its description, dead-letter queue, and KMS encryption key.
Replay, 4 operations
- POSTcancel_replay
Cancel an in-progress EventBridge replay. The replay transitions to CANCELLING and then CANCELLED state.
- POSTdescribe_replay
Retrieve details about an EventBridge replay including its current state, progress timestamps, source archive, and destination configuration.
- POSTlist_replays
List EventBridge replays in the account and region. Filter by name prefix, source archive ARN, or replay state.
- POSTstart_replay
Start a replay of archived EventBridge events to a specified event bus. Replayed events are delivered to the same targets as live events, filtered by the destination configuration.
Resource, 3 operations
- POSTlist_tags_for_resource
List all tags associated with an EventBridge resource such as an event bus, rule, or archive.
- POSTtag_resource
Add or update tags on an EventBridge resource such as an event bus, rule, or archive. Tags are key-value pairs used for cost allocation and resource organization.
- POSTuntag_resource
Remove one or more tags from an EventBridge resource by specifying the tag keys to delete.
Target, 3 operations
- POSTlist_targets_by_rule
List all targets associated with an EventBridge rule. Returns target IDs, ARNs, roles, and input configurations.
- POSTput_targets
Add or update targets for an EventBridge rule. Targets are AWS resources or endpoints that EventBridge invokes when the rule matches an event. Up to 5 targets per rule.
- POSTremove_targets
Remove one or more targets from an EventBridge rule by their IDs. The targets are no longer invoked when the rule matches an event.
Event, 1 operation
- POSTput_events
Send custom events to Amazon EventBridge. Each event contains a source, detail-type, and JSON detail payload. Events are routed to matching rules and forwarded to configured targets.
Event pattern, 1 operation
- POSTtest_event_pattern
Test whether a given JSON event matches an EventBridge event pattern. Useful for validating patterns before attaching them to rules.
Use AWS EventBridge from Claude Code, Cursor or Codex
Connect AWS EventBridge in LiveContext, create an API key in Settings, then add the LiveContext MCP server to your client. Its AWS EventBridge operations become tools the client can call, next to every other integration you connected.

Connect AWS EventBridge once
Add your AWS EventBridge connection in Settings. Every tool from this integration reuses it, and secrets are encrypted at rest and visible only to you.
