Common Auth0 use cases

  • user onboarding
  • security auditing
  • role management UI
  • RBAC setup
  • profile editing
  • access revocation
  • user profile pages
  • admin user creation
  • admin password reset
  • connection management

What you can do with Auth0

Each of these is one operation on one endpoint, available both as a workflow step and as a tool an AI agent can call on its own. Nothing bundles several operations into one action, so what a run did stays readable afterwards.

Most endpoints run on the free plan. A few, mainly the ones that publish on your behalf, need a paid plan.

User, 5 operations

  • POSTcreate_user

Creates a new user in a specified Auth0 connection. Required: connection (database name) and email or phone_number. Optional: password (for database connections), name fields, picture, metadata, and verification flags. Returns the created user wit...

  • DELETEdelete_user

Permanently deletes a user from Auth0 by their user_id. Removes all user data including profile, identities, and metadata. This operation cannot be undone. Consider blocking users instead for soft-delete scenarios.

  • GETget_user

Retrieves a single user's complete profile by their user_id. Returns email, name, picture, identities (linked accounts), app_metadata, user_metadata, and login statistics. Use fields parameter to control response size.

  • GETlist_users

Lists all users in your Auth0 tenant with optional filtering. Use Lucene query syntax for advanced searches (email, name, metadata). Returns paginated results with user profiles, identities, and metadata. Essential for user directories, admin dash...

  • PATCHupdate_user

Updates a user's profile attributes. Supports partial updates - only include fields to change. Can update email, name, picture, metadata, blocked status, and password. Some fields require specific connection types.

User role, 3 operations

  • POSTassign_user_roles

Assigns one or more roles to a user. Provide array of role IDs to assign. User immediately gains all permissions from assigned roles. Idempotent - assigning existing roles has no effect.

  • GETget_user_roles

Retrieves all roles assigned to a specific user. Returns role IDs, names, and descriptions. Use for displaying user's access level, permission checking, and role management interfaces.

  • DELETEremove_user_roles

Removes one or more roles from a user. User immediately loses all permissions from removed roles. Provide array of role IDs to remove. Idempotent - removing non-assigned roles has no effect.

Role, 2 operations

  • POSTcreate_role

Creates a new role in your Auth0 tenant. Requires name (unique identifier) and optional description. After creation, add permissions to the role and assign it to users for RBAC.

  • GETlist_roles

Lists all roles in your Auth0 tenant with pagination. Roles group permissions for RBAC (Role-Based Access Control). Returns role ID, name, and description. Use name_filter for searching specific roles.

Client, 1 operation

  • GETlist_clients

Lists all applications (clients) registered in your Auth0 tenant. Returns client_id, name, app_type, callbacks, and configuration for each application. Filter by app_type for specific application types.

Connection, 1 operation

  • GETlist_connections

Lists all identity connections configured in your Auth0 tenant. Includes database connections, social providers (Google, Facebook), and enterprise providers (SAML, LDAP). Filter by strategy or name.

Password change ticket, 1 operation

  • POSTchange_password

Creates a password change ticket and returns the reset URL. Provide user_id or email+connection_id. The response is a ticket URL you deliver yourself; this call does not email the user. Configurable TTL and verification options.

User log, 1 operation

  • GETget_user_logs

Retrieves log events for a specific user. Returns login successes, failures, password changes, and security events. Each log includes type, date, IP, user_agent, and details. Essential for security auditing and troubleshooting.

Verification email, 1 operation

  • POSTsend_verification_email

Sends a verification email to a user. Requires user_id and optionally client_id (to customize the email template). Use when initial verification was missed or link expired. Returns job status.

Use Auth0 from Claude Code, Cursor or Codex

Connect Auth0 in LiveContext, create an API key in Settings, then add the LiveContext MCP server to your client. Its Auth0 operations become tools the client can call, next to every other integration you connected.

How to connect Auth0

  1. Create your workspace

Sign up free. Nothing to install.

  2. Connect Auth0 once

Add your Auth0 connection in Settings. Every tool from this integration reuses it, and secrets are encrypted at rest and visible only to you.

  3. Describe the job in chat

The workflow builds itself in front of you and picks the endpoints it needs. Drag the steps yourself on the canvas whenever you would rather be explicit.
