Audiobookshelf integration

Audiobookshelf is a self-hosted server for audiobooks, ebooks and podcasts. The API lets an agent list and manage libraries and their contents, page through library items, series and authors, read and edit an author or a series, upload, download and match an author image, add a podcast from an RSS feed, search a podcast feed for episodes, queue and clear episode downloads, read, edit and delete a podcast episode, parse and create OPML podcast subscriptions, manage notification rules and test them, and configure the outgoing mail settings and e-reader devices used to send an ebook to a device. The host is part of the credential because every install is its own deployment. Authentication is the API token shown in the Audiobookshelf user account settings, sent as a bearer token.

What you can do with Audiobookshelf

Each of these is one operation on one endpoint, available both as a workflow step and as a tool an AI agent can call on its own. Nothing bundles several operations into one action, so what a run did stays readable afterwards.

Most endpoints run on the free plan. A few, mainly the ones that publish on your behalf, need a paid plan.

Use Audiobookshelf from Claude Code, Cursor or Codex

Connect Audiobookshelf in LiveContext, create an API key in Settings, then add the LiveContext MCP server to your client. Its Audiobookshelf operations become tools the client can call, next to every other integration you connected.

How to connect Audiobookshelf

  1. Create your workspace

Sign up free. Nothing to install.

  2. Connect Audiobookshelf once

Add your Audiobookshelf connection in Settings. Every tool from this integration reuses it, and secrets are encrypted at rest and visible only to you.

  3. Describe the job in chat

The workflow builds itself in front of you and picks the endpoints it needs. Drag the steps yourself on the canvas whenever you would rather be explicit.
