What you can do with Amazon SNS

Each of these is one operation on one endpoint, available both as a workflow step and as a tool an AI agent can call on its own. Nothing bundles several operations into one action, so what a run did stays readable afterwards.

Most endpoints run on the free plan. A few, mainly the ones that publish on your behalf, need a paid plan.

Operation, 3 operations

  • POSTpublish

Publish a message to an SNS topic or directly to a phone number or platform endpoint. All subscribers to the topic will receive the notification. Supports message attributes and per-protocol message customization.

  • POSTsubscribe

Subscribe an endpoint to an SNS topic. The endpoint receives notifications when messages are published to the topic. Some protocols require confirmation before the subscription is active.

  • POSTunsubscribe

Unsubscribe an endpoint from an SNS topic. The subscription is removed immediately and the endpoint will stop receiving notifications.

Platform application, 3 operations

  • POSTcreate_platform_application

Create a platform application for push notifications (e.g., APNs for iOS, FCM/GCM for Android). The platform application stores the credentials needed to communicate with the push notification service.

  • POSTdelete_platform_application

Delete a platform application for push notifications. This also deletes all endpoints associated with the platform application.

  • POSTlist_platform_applications

List all platform applications registered for push notifications in the account. Returns up to 100 applications per call.

Topic, 3 operations

  • POSTcreate_topic

Create a new SNS topic. Topics are communication channels to which messages can be published and from which subscribers receive notifications.

  • POSTdelete_topic

Delete an SNS topic and all its subscriptions. This action is idempotent so deleting a non-existent topic does not result in an error.

  • POSTlist_topics

List all SNS topics in the account. Returns up to 100 topics per call with pagination support.

Permission, 2 operations

  • POSTadd_permission

Add a statement to a topic's access control policy, granting access for the specified AWS accounts to the specified actions.

  • POSTremove_permission

Remove a statement from a topic's access control policy by its label.

Resource, 2 operations

  • POSTtag_resource

Add or update tags on an SNS resource (topic or subscription). Tags are key-value pairs for organizing and tracking costs.

  • POSTuntag_resource

Remove one or more tags from an SNS resource (topic or subscription) by specifying the tag keys to remove.

Subscription, 2 operations

  • POSTlist_subscriptions

List all SNS subscriptions in the account across all topics. Returns up to 100 subscriptions per call with pagination support.

  • POSTlist_subscriptions_by_topic

List all subscriptions for a specific SNS topic. Returns up to 100 subscriptions per call with pagination support.

Subscription attribute, 2 operations

  • POSTget_subscription_attributes

Retrieve all attributes of an SNS subscription including its ARN, protocol, endpoint, filter policy, delivery policy, and raw message delivery setting.

  • POSTset_subscription_attributes

Set a single attribute on an SNS subscription such as the filter policy, raw message delivery, or dead-letter queue configuration.

Topic attribute, 2 operations

  • POSTget_topic_attributes

Retrieve all attributes of an SNS topic including its ARN, display name, owner, policy, delivery policy, subscription counts, and encryption settings.

  • POSTset_topic_attributes

Set a single attribute on an SNS topic such as the display name, delivery policy, access policy, or encryption key.

Batch, 1 operation

  • POSTpublish_batch

Publish up to 10 messages to an SNS topic in a single API call. Supports FIFO and standard topics. Each entry can have its own message body, attributes, and deduplication settings.

Confirm subscription, 1 operation

  • POSTconfirm_subscription

Confirm a pending subscription by validating the token sent to the endpoint during the subscribe action. Required for HTTP, HTTPS, and email protocols.

Endpoint attribute, 1 operation

  • POSTget_endpoint_attributes

Retrieve the attributes of a device endpoint including its token, enabled status, and custom user data.

Endpoints by platform application, 1 operation

  • POSTlist_endpoints_by_platform_application

List all device endpoints registered under a specific platform application. Returns up to 100 endpoints per call.

Platform application attribute, 1 operation

  • POSTget_platform_application_attributes

Retrieve the attributes of a platform application for push notifications, including authentication method, event topic ARNs, and certificate expiry information.

Platform endpoint, 1 operation

  • POSTcreate_platform_endpoint

Create an endpoint for a device on a platform application. Each endpoint represents a specific device that can receive push notifications.

Tag, 1 operation

  • POSTlist_tags_for_resource

List all tags associated with an SNS resource (topic or subscription).

Use Amazon SNS from Claude Code, Cursor or Codex

Connect Amazon SNS in LiveContext, create an API key in Settings, then add the LiveContext MCP server to your client. Its Amazon SNS operations become tools the client can call, next to every other integration you connected.

How to connect Amazon SNS

  1. Create your workspace

Sign up free. Nothing to install.

  2. Connect Amazon SNS once

Add your Amazon SNS connection in Settings. Every tool from this integration reuses it, and secrets are encrypted at rest and visible only to you.

  3. Describe the job in chat

The workflow builds itself in front of you and picks the endpoints it needs. Drag the steps yourself on the canvas whenever you would rather be explicit.
