ViewDNS.info integration
ViewDNS.info answers domain, DNS and IP intelligence lookups: WHOIS and reverse WHOIS, domains sharing an IP, mail server or name server, DNS records and propagation, IP history, subdomains, IP location, reverse DNS, abuse contacts, HTTP headers, spam blacklists, MAC vendors and free-email domains. It also contacts a host you name from its own servers (HTTP headers, ping, traceroute, port scan, China and Iran firewall tests). Calls draw on the account's monthly or prepaid query allowance, shared by every tool (get_account_balance shows what is left; the free trial has 250 queries and not every tool); errors come back as HTTP 400 (bad input), 401 (invalid key), 403 (tool not in the plan) or 429 (no queries left). XML output, the newly registered domain file downloads and the MCP server are not included. Authentication is an API key from viewdns.info, sent as the apikey query parameter.
Say what should happen.
The workflow builds itself.
What you can do with ViewDNS.info
Each of these is one operation on one endpoint, available both as a workflow step and as a tool an AI agent can call on its own. Nothing bundles several operations into one action, so what a run did stays readable afterwards.
Most endpoints run on the free plan. A few, mainly the ones that publish on your behalf, need a paid plan.
V2, 2 operations
ping_hostPing hostGETPings a domain or IP from ViewDNS locations around the world, grouped by region: per location, the IP that answered, minimum, average and maximum round-trip time and packet loss. Sends packets to the host.whois_lookupWhois lookupGETReturns the parsed WHOIS or RDAP record of a domain or IP: registrar, created, updated and expiry dates, registrant, admin and technical contacts, name servers, status and raw text. Contacts can be personal data.
Abuselookup, 1 operation
get_abuse_contactGet abuse contactGETReturns the most relevant abuse contact email address for a domain name or IP address, the address to report spam, phishing or other abuse to. Drawn from WHOIS and other records, it can be a person's own address (personal data).
Account, 1 operation
get_account_balanceGet account balanceGETReturns the API account's query allowance: this month's limit and usage, and the prepaid query balance. Pass action=balance.
Chinesefirewall, 1 operation
test_chinese_firewallTest chinese firewallGETTests whether a domain or URL is reachable from several locations in mainland China: each location's DNS answer against the expected IPs, an overall verdict, and an HTTP reachability check of the URL.
Dnsrecord, 1 operation
lookup_dns_recordsLookup dns recordsGETReturns the DNS records of a domain or hostname (name, TTL, class, type, data, and priority for MX records), for one record type or for every type (ANY, the default).
Freeemail, 1 operation
check_free_email_domainCheck free email domainGETTells whether a domain provides free or disposable email addresses. The answer is one sentence, for example 'This domain DOES NOT appear to provide free email addresses.'
Httpheader, 1 operation
get_http_headersGet http headersGETRequests a domain or IP over HTTP and returns the response headers as name and value pairs; the entry named http_status holds the HTTP status code.
Iphistory, 1 operation
get_ip_historyGet ip historyGETLists the IP addresses a domain has pointed to over time, each with its location, owner (the network that holds the IP) and the date it was last seen.
Iplocation, 1 operation
get_ip_locationGet ip locationGETReturns the location of an IP address: city, ZIP code, region, country, latitude and longitude, and GMT and DST offsets.
Iranfirewall, 1 operation
test_iran_firewallTest iran firewallGETTests whether a domain or URL is reachable from within Iran or blocked by local censorship; result holds the outcome (ok in the vendor's example).
Maclookup, 1 operation
lookup_mac_addressLookup mac addressGETFinds the manufacturer of a MAC address in the OUI database; the answer is one string with the company name and its registered address.
Portscan, 1 operation
scan_portsScan portsGETChecks from ViewDNS servers whether common ports (such as FTP, SSH, SMTP, DNS, HTTP, HTTPS, MySQL and Remote Desktop) are open or closed on a domain or IP. It probes the target: scan only hosts you may test.
Propagation, 1 operation
check_dns_propagationCheck dns propagationGETResolves a hostname from DNS servers in cities around the world and returns each server's answer and status next to the expected answer, to see whether a DNS change has propagated.
Reversedn, 1 operation
reverse_dns_lookupReverse dns lookupGETReturns the reverse DNS (pointer record) hostname of an IP address.
Reverseip, 1 operation
reverse_ip_lookupReverse ip lookupGETLists the other domains hosted on the same server as a domain or IP (to find phishing sites or shared-hosting neighbours): up to 10,000 per page, each with a last resolved date, plus the total count.
Reversemx, 1 operation
reverse_mx_lookupReverse mx lookupGETLists the domains that use a given mail server (MX), up to 10,000 per page, with the total count and page numbers; useful to find related domains or spam sources.
Reversen, 1 operation
reverse_ns_lookupReverse ns lookupGETLists the domains that use a given name server, up to 10,000 per page, with the total count and page numbers.
Reversewhois, 1 operation
reverse_whois_lookupReverse whois lookupGETFinds domains registered to a person or organisation, searched by email address, domain name, person name or company name: up to 1,000 per page with creation date and registrar. A search on a person's name or email returns personal data.
Spamdblookup, 1 operation
check_spam_blacklistsCheck spam blacklistsGETChecks an IP address against over 30 spam blacklists and returns each blacklist's name and its result for the IP.
Subdomain, 1 operation
discover_subdomainsDiscover subdomainsGETLists the known subdomains of a domain, up to 1,000 per page with the total count, each with its IP addresses and last resolved date (empty when unknown).
Traceroute, 1 operation
tracerouteTracerouteGETRuns a traceroute from the ViewDNS server to a domain or IP and returns each hop's number, hostname, IP address and round-trip time. Sends packets to the host.
Use ViewDNS.info from Claude Code, Cursor or Codex
Connect ViewDNS.info in LiveContext, create an API key in Settings, then add the LiveContext MCP server to your client. Its ViewDNS.info operations become tools the client can call, next to every other integration you connected.
claude mcp add --transport http livecontext https://livecontext.ai/mcp --header "X-API-Key: YOUR_API_KEY"[mcp_servers.livecontext]

}
}How to connect ViewDNS.info
- Create your workspace
Sign up free. Nothing to install.
- Connect ViewDNS.info once
Add your ViewDNS.info connection in Settings. Every tool from this integration reuses it, and secrets are encrypted at rest and visible only to you.
- Describe the job in chat
The workflow builds itself in front of you and picks the endpoints it needs. Drag the steps yourself on the canvas whenever you would rather be explicit.
