Vertex for e-Commerce integration

Vertex for e-Commerce (version 3 of the former Taxamo service) determines indirect tax (VAT, GST, US sales tax) at an online checkout through its Seller Transaction API. Calculate the tax of a transaction without storing it, store a transaction for later confirmation, confirm it without recalculating, read it back with its per-line taxes, list the API requests recorded on it, and refund it fully or per line. The marketplace, reporting, Invoice IQ and Validator APIs use other tokens and are not part of this integration, nor is the older Taxamo v2 API (a separate integration). Authentication is an access token created by an administrator in the dashboard under Settings, API Access Tokens (shown once, active after a few minutes), sent in the x-marketplace-seller-token header. Calls go to the production environment; the sandbox is a separate host.

The workflow builds itself.

When this happens, do that in Vertex for e-Commerce.Built from the 6 Vertex for e-Commerce tools below, on the connection you add once.

What you can do with Vertex for e-Commerce

Each of these is one operation on one endpoint, available both as a workflow step and as a tool an AI agent can call on its own. Nothing bundles several operations into one action, so what a run did stays readable afterwards.

Most endpoints run on the free plan. A few, mainly the ones that publish on your behalf, need a paid plan.

Transaction, 2 operations

  • get_transactionGet transactionGETReturns a stored transaction by its key: lines with their taxes, amounts, addresses, buyer tax number checks, status (N new, C confirmed), refunds and timestamps.
  • store_transactionStore transactionPOSTStores a transaction with its calculated tax for later confirmation and returns it with its key (status N). Confirm it with confirm_transaction.

Calculate, 1 operation

  • calculate_taxCalculate taxPOSTCalculates the tax of a transaction (currency, lines and addresses) without storing it, for example to show prices with tax at checkout. Returns the transaction with per-line taxes, tax amount and tax countries.

Confirm, 1 operation

  • confirm_transactionConfirm transactionPOSTConfirms a stored transaction by its key, without recalculating its tax or changing its data. If a confirm fails (a network error, say), resend it with the same key instead of storing a new transaction.

Refund, 1 operation

  • refund_transactionRefund transactionPOSTRefunds a transaction fully or per line: each refunds entry names a line_key and a refund_amount (or refund_total_amount, tax included) with a refund_reason. US transactions must be fully refunded on every line.

Request, 1 operation

  • list_transaction_requestsList transaction requestsGETReturns the API requests recorded for a transaction (endpoint, URL path, time, audited headers and body), to audit what was sent for it.
