Tripadvisor integration

Tripadvisor Terra is Tripadvisor's content API for hotels, restaurants, attractions and destinations. Search locations by name, address or area, get a location's details, traveler reviews and photos (one or many at once), get destination (geo) details, ask for AI-ranked recommendations from a free-text query, manage the allowlist of location ids your key may serve, and get download links for content feed files. Which endpoints a key may call depends on its Terra package; the search and nearby tools share a 1 request per second limit. The redirecting feed download route is not exposed (use the download-link tool). Authentication is an API key sent in the X-API-Key header.

The workflow builds itself.

When this happens, do that in Tripadvisor.Built from the 16 Tripadvisor tools below, on the connection you add once.

What you can do with Tripadvisor

Each of these is one operation on one endpoint, available both as a workflow step and as a tool an AI agent can call on its own. Nothing bundles several operations into one action, so what a run did stays readable afterwards.

Most endpoints run on the free plan. A few, mainly the ones that publish on your behalf, need a paid plan.

Location, 3 operations

  • get_catalog_locationGet catalog locationGETGets the summary of any Tripadvisor location in the catalog by id, even one not on your allowlist. Use get_location for full details of an allowlisted location.
  • get_locationGet locationGETGets full details of one allowlisted location: name, address, coordinates, contact, categories, opening hours, ratings, rankings, awards, prices and links.
  • get_locationsGet locationsGETGets full details of several allowlisted locations in one call. Billed per location returned, not per call.

Search, 3 operations

  • search_catalog_locationsSearch catalog locationsGETSearches the whole Tripadvisor catalog (not only your allowlist) by name or address, for example to find ids to add with update_allowlist. Returns a summary per location. Limited to 1 request per second.
  • search_locationsSearch locationsGETFinds your allowlisted locations by name or address and returns full details for each match. An empty data list means no allowlisted match: try search_catalog_locations. Limited to 1 request per second.
  • search_recommendationsSearch recommendationsPOSTReturns AI-ranked location recommendations for a natural-language query (for example quiet cafes to work from) in a destination given by geo id, name or a search area.

Allowlist, 2 operations

  • get_allowlistGet allowlistGETLists the location ids on your allowlist, the locations your key may read with get_location, list_location_reviews and the other location tools. Paged.
  • update_allowlistUpdate allowlistPOSTChanges your allowlist of location ids: APPEND adds the ids, DELETE removes them, OVERWRITE replaces the whole list with them. Find ids with search_catalog_locations.

Geo, 2 operations

  • get_geoGet geoGETGets a Tripadvisor geo (a destination such as a city, region or country): names, descriptions, coordinates, parent hierarchy, awards and forum FAQs.
  • get_geosGet geosGETGets the details of several Tripadvisor geos (destinations such as cities or countries) in one call.

Nearby, 2 operations

  • search_catalog_nearby_locationsSearch catalog nearby locationsGETFinds points of interest in the whole Tripadvisor catalog (not only your allowlist) around a point or location, or inside a bounding box, ordered by rating or distance. Limited to 1 request per second.
  • search_nearby_locationsSearch nearby locationsGETFinds your allowlisted locations around a point or location, or inside a bounding box, ordered by rating or distance. Limited to 1 request per second.

Json, 1 operation

  • get_feed_file_urlGet feed file urlGETReturns a temporary download link for a feed file and when it expires. Get the filename from list_feed_files.

List, 1 operation

  • list_feed_filesList feed filesGETLists the content feed files available to download (filename and size in bytes). Pass a filename to get_feed_file_url for a download link.

Photo, 1 operation

  • list_location_photosList location photosGETLists photos of a location, most recent first, with image URLs in several sizes, captions and who posted them. Paged.

Review, 1 operation

  • list_location_reviewsList location reviewsGETLists traveler reviews of a location, most recent first by default, with ratings, subratings, trip type and owner replies. Filter by minimum rating, trip type, date or language. Paged.

Use Tripadvisor from Claude Code, Cursor or Codex

Connect Tripadvisor in LiveContext, create an API key in Settings, then add the LiveContext MCP server to your client. Its Tripadvisor operations become tools the client can call, next to every other integration you connected.

How to connect Tripadvisor

  1. Create your workspace

Sign up free. Nothing to install.

  2. Connect Tripadvisor once

Add your Tripadvisor connection in Settings. Every tool from this integration reuses it, and secrets are encrypted at rest and visible only to you.

  3. Describe the job in chat

The workflow builds itself in front of you and picks the endpoints it needs. Drag the steps yourself on the canvas whenever you would rather be explicit.
