Trash Nothing integration

Trash Nothing is a free-reuse (freecycling) community where members give away and ask for items through local groups. Search and list offer and wanted posts in an area, by keywords, type, date and outcome; read one post or several, with the author's public profile and other posts; follow the feed of every public post and of post changes over the last 30 days; list a user's posts; and search groups by name, location, region or postal code. This API is read-only public data: it has no route to post, reply or manage group membership, and fields about the signed-in member stay empty with an API key. Authentication is a Trash Nothing API key, sent as the api_key query parameter.

The workflow builds itself.

When this happens, do that in Trash Nothing.Built from the 12 Trash Nothing tools below, on the connection you add once.

What you can do with Trash Nothing

Each of these is one operation on one endpoint, available both as a workflow step and as a tool an AI agent can call on its own. Nothing bundles several operations into one action, so what a run did stays readable afterwards.

Most endpoints run on the free plan. A few, mainly the ones that publish on your behalf, need a paid plan.

Post, 8 operations

  • get_postGet postGETReturns one post: title, content, type, outcome, location, photos, publication and expiration dates, and its link on Trash Nothing.
  • get_post_displayGet post displayGETReturns a post together with what is needed to display it: the author's public profile and feedback, the author's other active posts of the last 90 days (up to 30), their offer and wanted counts, and the groups the post is on.
  • get_postsGet postsGETReturns up to 10 posts by ID in one call, with the IDs that were not found or not visible listed separately.
  • list_all_postsList all postsGETReturns the feed of every publicly published offer and wanted post on Trash Nothing for a time window of at most one day within the last 30 days, newest first. Crossposted posts are not merged (they share user_id, title and content).
  • list_postsList postsGETLists offer and wanted posts by source (open-archive groups, public Trash Nothing posts) in an area, newest first by default, with paging. At most 1,000 posts can be paged through: narrow the area, dates or types for more.
  • list_user_postsList user postsGETLists the posts of one user, filtered by type, source, area, dates and outcome, with paging.
  • search_postsSearch postsGETSearches offer and wanted posts by keywords, with the same filters as list_posts (sources, types, area, dates, outcomes) and relevance sorting by default. At most 1,000 posts can be paged through.
  • search_user_postsSearch user postsGETSearches the posts of one user by keywords, with the same filters as list_user_posts.

Group, 3 operations

  • get_groupGet groupGETReturns one group: name, homepage, member count, location, timezone, country and region, and whether membership and archives are open.
  • get_groupsGet groupsGETReturns up to 20 groups by ID in one call. With latitude and longitude, each group also says whether it supports that point.
  • search_groupsSearch groupsGETSearches Trash Nothing groups (local freecycling communities) by name, by distance from a point, or by country and region or postal code, with paging.

Post change, 1 operation

  • list_post_changesList post changesGETReturns the changes made to publicly published posts in a time window of at most one day within the last 30 days, newest first: published, deleted, undeleted, satisfied, promised, unpromised, withdrawn, edited or expired.

Use Trash Nothing from Claude Code, Cursor or Codex

Connect Trash Nothing in LiveContext, create an API key in Settings, then add the LiveContext MCP server to your client. Its Trash Nothing operations become tools the client can call, next to every other integration you connected.

How to connect Trash Nothing

  1. Create your workspace

Sign up free. Nothing to install.

  2. Connect Trash Nothing once

Add your Trash Nothing connection in Settings. Every tool from this integration reuses it, and secrets are encrypted at rest and visible only to you.

  3. Describe the job in chat

The workflow builds itself in front of you and picks the endpoints it needs. Drag the steps yourself on the canvas whenever you would rather be explicit.
