Integration

Timely integration

Timely is an automatic time tracking and planning tool for teams. With this API an agent can log, edit, time and bulk-import time entries, manage projects, clients, tags, teams, users (invite, update, remove), planned tasks, project and time entry states, linked work items from other tools and webhooks, lock days, and read reports, utilisation insights, capacities, permissions and compliance. The OAuth management routes, avatar upload, the bulk project reassignment and bulk tag routes (their operation values are undocumented) and the duplicate team PUT and day-lock PUT routes are not exposed. Authentication is OAuth 2.0 with scope manage; the account id is the number in your Timely web address (app.timelyapp.com/<account id>/...).

Ask it in chat

Say what should happen.
The workflow builds itself.

When this happens, do that in Timely.Built from the 77 Timely tools below, on the connection you add once.

What you can do with Timely

Each of these is one operation on one endpoint, available both as a workflow step and as a tool an AI agent can call on its own. Nothing bundles several operations into one action, so what a run did stays readable afterwards.

Most endpoints run on the free plan. A few, mainly the ones that publish on your behalf, need a paid plan.

User, 7 operations

  • delete_userDelete userDELETEDelete/remove user from account. Requires delete permission for the user.
  • get_current_userGet current userGETReturns the connected user: id, name, email, role and settings in this account. Use it to find your own user id.
  • get_userGet userGETGet specific user details. Requires read permission for the user.
  • invite_userInvite userPOSTInvites a person to the account by email (name, email and role_id required); if the email already exists the person is re-invited with the new settings. Needs an active or trial subscription with a free seat.
  • list_usersList usersGETLists users in the account. Requires global user read permission or project update permission.
  • search_usersSearch usersGETSearch users. Requires create or update project permission.
  • update_userUpdate userPUTChanges a user. The vendor requires name and email on every update (email is ignored): read the user with get_user first and send name back unchanged with your change.

Linked work item, 6 operations

  • create_linked_work_itemCreate linked work itemPOSTCreates a linked work item (an issue or ticket from another tool that time can be logged against). title and external_id are required.

Use Timely from Claude Code, Cursor or Codex

Connect Timely in LiveContext, create an API key in Settings, then add the LiveContext MCP server to your client. Its Timely operations become tools the client can call, next to every other integration you connected.

How to connect Timely

  1. Create your workspace

Sign up free. Nothing to install.

  2. Connect Timely once

Add your Timely connection in Settings. Every tool from this integration reuses it, and secrets are encrypted at rest and visible only to you.

  3. Describe the job in chat

The workflow builds itself in front of you and picks the endpoints it needs. Drag the steps yourself on the canvas whenever you would rather be explicit.
