The Odds API integration

The Odds API returns live and upcoming sports events with bookmaker odds (moneyline, spreads, totals, outrights, player props and more) from bookmakers across the US, UK, EU and Australia, plus live and recent scores, the participants of a sport, the markets a bookmaker offers for an event, and historical odds snapshots. Start with list_sports to get a sport key. Calls draw on a monthly usage quota: listing sports and events is free, odds cost 1 credit per market per region, historical odds 10 per market per region (historical routes need a paid plan). Authentication is an API key from the-odds-api.com, sent as the apiKey query parameter.

What you can do with The Odds API

Each of these is one operation on one endpoint, available both as a workflow step and as a tool an AI agent can call on its own. Nothing bundles several operations into one action, so what a run did stays readable afterwards.

Most endpoints run on the free plan. A few, mainly the ones that publish on your behalf, need a paid plan.

Event, 1 operation

  • list_eventsList eventsGETLists the in-play and upcoming events of a sport (id, teams, start time) without odds. Free. Use an event id with get_event_odds or list_event_markets.

Event odds, 1 operation

  • get_event_oddsGet event oddsGETReturns one live or upcoming event with bookmaker odds for any market it offers, player props included. Costs 1 quota credit per market returned per region.

Historical event, 1 operation

  • list_historical_eventsList historical eventsGETReturns a past snapshot (closest at or before date) of a sport's events without odds, plus previous and next snapshot timestamps. Paid plans only; costs 1 quota credit, nothing when no event is found.

Historical event odds, 1 operation

  • get_historical_event_oddsGet historical event oddsGETReturns one event's bookmaker odds as they stood at date, any market (props from 2023-05-03). Paid plans only; costs 10 credits per market returned per region.

Historical odds, 1 operation

  • list_historical_oddsList historical oddsGETReturns a past snapshot (closest at or before date) of a sport's events with bookmaker odds, plus the previous and next snapshot timestamps. Paid plans only; costs 10 credits per market per region.

Participant, 1 operation

  • list_participantsList participantsGETLists the participants of a sport (teams, or players for individual sports) with id and full name, not team rosters; may include inactive ones. Costs 1 quota credit.

Use The Odds API from Claude Code, Cursor or Codex

Connect The Odds API in LiveContext, create an API key in Settings, then add the LiveContext MCP server to your client. Its The Odds API operations become tools the client can call, next to every other integration you connected.

How to connect The Odds API

  1. Create your workspace

Sign up free. Nothing to install.

  2. Connect The Odds API once

Add your The Odds API connection in Settings. Every tool from this integration reuses it, and secrets are encrypted at rest and visible only to you.

  3. Describe the job in chat

The workflow builds itself in front of you and picks the endpoints it needs. Drag the steps yourself on the canvas whenever you would rather be explicit.
