Smstools integration

Smstools is a Belgian SMS gateway (smstools.com, API host smsgatewayapi.com). Send an SMS to a number or to a whole contact group, or a voice call that reads a text out loud, now or at a set time, with your own text or a saved template, or validate a send in test mode; follow a message's delivery status and replies, list sent history, scheduled messages (and remove one), received inbox messages and the conversation with a number; list, search, add, update and remove contacts, list, read and add contact groups, list sender ids, subaccounts and message templates, read the credit balance and sent and received counts, put a phone number in international format, and list, add or remove opt-outs. Messages and contacts are personal data, and sending costs credits. Not exposed: WhatsApp, flows, conversation assignment, webhooks, birthday messages, white label accounts, account details, virtual numbers, grouped history, per-subaccount history and statistics, and renaming or deleting groups or managing templates, sender ids and subaccounts. Authentication is an API client ID and client secret (Developer, API and Webhooks, API credentials) sent in the X-Client-Id and X-Client-Secret headers.

Ask it in chat

Say what should happen.
The workflow builds itself.

When this happens, do that in Smstools.Built from the 27 Smstools tools below, on the connection you add once.

What you can do with Smstools

Each of these is one operation on one endpoint, available both as a workflow step and as a tool an AI agent can call on its own. Nothing bundles several operations into one action, so what a run did stays readable afterwards.

Most endpoints run on the free plan. A few, mainly the ones that publish on your behalf, need a paid plan.

Contact, 4 operations

  • add_contactAdd contactPOSTAdds a contact with a phone number to a group, with optional first and last name, birthday, user-defined fields and unsubscribe status, and returns its id.
  • list_contactsList contactsGETLists the account's contacts with phone number, first and last name, birthday, the eight user-defined fields and unsubscribe status.
  • remove_contactRemove contactDELETEDeletes a contact by its id. Answers 404 when the id does not exist.
  • update_contactUpdate contactPATCHChanges the given fields of a contact (phone, group, names, birthday, user-defined fields, unsubscribe status); fields left out stay as they are. Answers 404 when the contact id is not found.

Group, 3 operations

  • add_groupAdd groupPOSTCreates a contact group with a name and returns its id, to use as the groupid of add_contact or the group of send_group_message.

Use Smstools from Claude Code, Cursor or Codex

Connect Smstools in LiveContext, create an API key in Settings, then add the LiveContext MCP server to your client. Its Smstools operations become tools the client can call, next to every other integration you connected.

How to connect Smstools

  1. Create your workspace

Sign up free. Nothing to install.

  2. Connect Smstools once

Add your Smstools connection in Settings. Every tool from this integration reuses it, and secrets are encrypted at rest and visible only to you.

  3. Describe the job in chat

The workflow builds itself in front of you and picks the endpoints it needs. Drag the steps yourself on the canvas whenever you would rather be explicit.
