Integration

SimpleKPI integration

SimpleKPI tracks business KPIs on dashboards and reports. Read and manage KPIs, KPI categories, units and breakdown items, record actual and target values one at a time or in batches (upserts), read entries back, run the all-data-entries report over a date range, and list the account's users, KPI frequencies and icons. Authentication is a SimpleKPI API token created in Settings, API Access, sent as a Bearer token; each token carries scopes (kpis:read, kpis:write, entries:read, entries:write, users:read, breakdownitems:read, breakdownitems:write) and a tool answers 403 when its scope is missing.

Say what should happen.
The workflow builds itself.

When this happens, do that in SimpleKPI.Built from the 38 SimpleKPI tools below, on the connection you add once.

What you can do with SimpleKPI

Each of these is one operation on one endpoint, available both as a workflow step and as a tool an AI agent can call on its own. Nothing bundles several operations into one action, so what a run did stays readable afterwards.

Most endpoints run on the free plan. A few, mainly the ones that publish on your behalf, need a paid plan.

Kpis, 10 operations

  • create_category_kpiCreate category kpiPOSTCreates a KPI in the category given by category_id. Same fields as create_kpi. Needs kpis:write.
  • create_kpiCreate kpiPOSTCreates a KPI. frequency_id, name, value_direction and aggregate_function are required; ids that do not resolve are refused with 400. Needs kpis:write.
  • delete_category_kpiDelete category kpiDELETEDeletes a KPI of a category, with its entries. Needs kpis:write.
  • delete_kpiDelete kpiDELETEDeletes a KPI and all its entries. Needs kpis:write.
  • get_category_kpiGet category kpiGETReturns one KPI of a category. Needs kpis:read.
  • get_kpiGet kpiGETReturns one KPI definition by id. Needs kpis:read.
  • list_category_kpisList category kpisGETLists the KPIs of one category, paged by page and rows. Needs kpis:read.
  • list_kpisList kpisGETLists the account's KPIs (definitions, not values), paged by page and rows. Needs the kpis:read scope.
  • update_category_kpiUpdate category kpiPUTReplaces a KPI of a category. Read it first and send every field back with your change; to move a KPI to another category use update_kpi. Needs kpis:write.
  • update_kpiUpdate kpiPUTReplaces a KPI. Read it first with get_kpi and send every field back with your change. Per the SimpleKPI Classic API reference, calculated KPIs cannot be changed through the API. Needs kpis:write.

Breakdownitem, 5 operations

  • create_breakdown_itemCreate breakdown itemPOSTCreates a breakdown item. Needs breakdownitems:write.
  • delete_breakdown_itemDelete breakdown itemDELETEDeletes a breakdown item. Needs breakdownitems:write.
  • get_breakdown_itemGet breakdown itemGETReturns one breakdown item by id. Needs breakdownitems:read.
  • list_breakdown_itemsList breakdown itemsGETLists breakdown items (values a KPI can be split by, such as North under Region) and breakdown sets, paged. Each id is a source_id for KPI entries. Needs breakdownitems:read.
  • update_breakdown_itemUpdate breakdown itemPUTReplaces a breakdown item: send name and the current values of the fields you keep. Built-in items cannot be changed. Needs breakdownitems:write.

Kpicategory, 5 operations

  • create_kpi_categoryCreate kpi categoryPOSTCreates a KPI category. Needs kpis:write.
  • delete_kpi_categoryDelete kpi categoryDELETEDeletes a KPI category. Only an empty category (no KPIs) can be deleted. Needs kpis:write.
  • get_kpi_categoryGet kpi categoryGETReturns one KPI category by id. Needs kpis:read.
  • list_kpi_categoriesList kpi categoriesGETLists KPI categories, paged by page and rows. Each id is a category_id for KPIs. Needs kpis:read.
  • update_kpi_categoryUpdate kpi categoryPUTReplaces a KPI category (name and sort_order). Send both, the current value for the one you keep. Needs kpis:write.

Kpientry, 5 operations

  • create_kpi_entryCreate kpi entryPOSTRecords one KPI value, upserting on (kpi_id, source_id, entry_date): an existing value for that day is overwritten. Check stored: false means nothing was kept (all values empty). Needs entries:write.
  • delete_kpi_entryDelete kpi entryDELETEDeletes a KPI entry permanently. Needs entries:write.
  • get_kpi_entryGet kpi entryGETReturns one KPI entry by id. Needs entries:read.
  • list_kpi_entriesList kpi entriesGETLists recorded KPI values (actual, target, notes per date), filtered by user, KPI, breakdown item and date range, paged by page and rows. Needs entries:read.
  • update_kpi_entryUpdate kpi entryPUTChanges one KPI entry. setActual, setTarget and setNotes default to true per the SimpleKPI Classic API reference: send the current values you keep, or set their flag to false. Needs entries:write.

Kpiunit, 5 operations

  • create_kpi_unitCreate kpi unitPOSTCreates a unit of measure. Needs kpis:write.
  • delete_kpi_unitDelete kpi unitDELETEDeletes a unit of measure. Only a unit no KPI uses can be deleted. Needs kpis:write.
  • get_kpi_unitGet kpi unitGETReturns one unit of measure by id. Needs kpis:read.
  • list_kpi_unitsList kpi unitsGETLists the account's units of measure, paged by page and rows. Each id is a unit_id for a KPI. Needs kpis:read.
  • update_kpi_unitUpdate kpi unitPUTReplaces a unit of measure: send name, entry_format and display_format (the current values for those you keep). Needs kpis:write.

Kpifrequency, 2 operations

  • get_kpi_frequencyGet kpi frequencyGETReturns one KPI frequency by its code. Needs kpis:read.
  • list_kpi_frequenciesList kpi frequenciesGETLists the KPI entry frequencies (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly). Each id is a frequency_id for a KPI. Fixed system list. Needs kpis:read.

Kpiicon, 2 operations

  • get_kpi_iconGet kpi iconGETReturns one KPI icon by id. Needs kpis:read.
  • list_kpi_iconsList kpi iconsGETLists the icons a KPI can be shown with. Each id is an icon_id for a KPI. Fixed system list. Needs kpis:read.

User, 2 operations

  • get_userGet userGETReturns one user by id. Needs users:read.
  • list_usersList usersGETLists the account's users, paged by page and rows. Use a user's id or email to attribute KPI entries. Needs users:read.

Alldataentry, 1 operation

  • get_all_data_entries_reportGet all data entries reportGETReturns the values shown on SimpleKPI reports (actuals, targets, notes per KPI, item and date) over a date range, including calculated KPIs. Needs entries:read.

List, 1 operation

  • create_kpi_entries_batchCreate kpi entries batchPOSTRecords many KPI values in one call (upserts, existing values overwritten). Check rows_rejected: a batch can succeed with every row rejected. Needs entries:write.

Use SimpleKPI from Claude Code, Cursor or Codex

Connect SimpleKPI in LiveContext, create an API key in Settings, then add the LiveContext MCP server to your client. Its SimpleKPI operations become tools the client can call, next to every other integration you connected.

How to connect SimpleKPI

  1. Create your workspace

Sign up free. Nothing to install.

  2. Connect SimpleKPI once

Add your SimpleKPI connection in Settings. Every tool from this integration reuses it, and secrets are encrypted at rest and visible only to you.

  3. Describe the job in chat

The workflow builds itself in front of you and picks the endpoints it needs. Drag the steps yourself on the canvas whenever you would rather be explicit.
