Shorten.REST integration

Shorten.REST is a URL shortener API. Create short links (aliases) on your own branded domain or on the default short.fyi domain, with a random or custom alias; send each visitor to a different destination by country or operating system; attach meta tags and tracking snippets that fire on the redirect; read, update and delete an alias, list every alias of a domain, and page through the raw click log (country, OS, browser, referrer). Custom domains, with their default meta tags and snippets, are set up in the Shorten.REST dashboard: this API has no route for them. Authentication is an API key sent in the x-api-key header.

Ask it in chat

Say what should happen.
The workflow builds itself.

When this happens, do that in Shorten.REST.Built from the 6 Shorten.REST tools below, on the connection you add once.

What you can do with Shorten.REST

Each of these is one operation on one endpoint, available both as a workflow step and as a tool an AI agent can call on its own. Nothing bundles several operations into one action, so what a run did stays readable afterwards.

Most endpoints run on the free plan. A few, mainly the ones that publish on your behalf, need a paid plan.

Alias, 5 operations

  • create_aliasCreate aliasPOSTCreates a short link (alias) that redirects to the given destinations and returns the alias, its domain and the full short URL.
  • delete_aliasDelete aliasDELETEDeletes one alias, so its short link stops redirecting. The domain defaults to short.fyi.
  • get_aliasGet aliasGETReturns one alias of a domain with its destinations, meta tags, snippets and timestamps. The answer is empty (null) when no such alias exists on that domain for your account.
  • list_aliasesList aliasesGETLists the alias names your account created on one domain (short.fyi by default), newest first, up to limit per call. When more remain, the answer carries lastId: pass it as continueFrom to get the next page.
  • update_aliasUpdate aliasPUTUpdates an existing alias. Only the fields you send change, but an array you send (destinations, metatags or snippets) replaces that whole list, so include the entries you want to keep. The domain defaults to short.fyi.

Click, 1 operation

  • list_clicksList clicksGETReturns the raw click log of your account, newest first: for each click the alias and domain, the destination the visitor was sent to, country, operating system, browser, user agent and referrer.

Use Shorten.REST from Claude Code, Cursor or Codex

Connect Shorten.REST in LiveContext, create an API key in Settings, then add the LiveContext MCP server to your client. Its Shorten.REST operations become tools the client can call, next to every other integration you connected.

Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http livecontext https://livecontext.ai/mcp --header "X-API-Key: YOUR_API_KEY"

How to connect Shorten.REST

  1. Create your workspace

Sign up free. Nothing to install.

  2. Connect Shorten.REST once

Add your Shorten.REST connection in Settings. Every tool from this integration reuses it, and secrets are encrypted at rest and visible only to you.

  3. Describe the job in chat

The workflow builds itself in front of you and picks the endpoints it needs. Drag the steps yourself on the canvas whenever you would rather be explicit.
