QR API integration

QR API (by Scanova) generates static QR code images. Encode a URL, free text, a vCard contact, WiFi network details, a Google Maps location, a phone number to call, an email address or a pre-filled SMS, and get the image back as a file. Every tool can style the code: size preset or custom pixel size, quiet zone, error correction, data and eye patterns, colors and gradients, a center logo from an image URL, or a semi-transparent code placed on a background image. Images come back as PNG, JPG or SVG; the PDF and EPS exports, which the API answers with a download link instead of the image, are not exposed. Authentication is an API key from the QR API dashboard, sent as the apikey query parameter (without a key the API returns an unscannable preview with a watermark).

Say what should happen.
The workflow builds itself.

When this happens, do that in QR API.Built from the 8 QR API tools below, on the connection you add once.

Common QR API use cases

  • qr code for a link
  • qr code with a message
  • qr code to call a number
  • qr code to send an email
  • qr code to save a contact
  • qr code to join a wifi network
  • qr code to send a text message
  • qr code for an address on a map
  • mailto qr code
  • directions qr code

What you can do with QR API

Each of these is one operation on one endpoint, available both as a workflow step and as a tool an AI agent can call on its own. Nothing bundles several operations into one action, so what a run did stays readable afterwards.

Most endpoints run on the free plan. A few, mainly the ones that publish on your behalf, need a paid plan.

  • create_email_qr_codeCreate email qr codeGETGenerates a static QR code image holding an email address: scanning it prompts the phone to write an email to that address. Optional styling: size, colors, patterns, logo or background image. Returns the image as a file.
  • create_googlemaps_qr_codeCreate googlemaps qr codeGETGenerates a static QR code image holding a Google Maps link to the given coordinates; scanning opens it in the browser or the Google Maps app. Optional styling: size, colors, patterns, logo or background image. Returns the image as a file.
  • create_phonecall_qr_codeCreate phonecall qr codeGETGenerates a static QR code image holding a phone number: scanning it prompts the phone to dial that number. Optional styling: size, colors, patterns, logo or background image. Returns the image as a file (PNG unless format is jpg or svg).
  • create_sms_qr_codeCreate sms qr codeGETGenerates a static QR code image holding an SMS: scanning it opens a text message to the given number, pre-filled with the given message. Optional styling: size, colors, patterns, logo or background image. Returns the image as a file.
  • create_text_qr_codeCreate text qr codeGETGenerates a static QR code image that shows the given text when scanned. Optional styling: size, colors, patterns, a center logo or a background image. Returns the image as a file (PNG unless format is jpg or svg).
  • create_url_qr_codeCreate url qr codeGETGenerates a static QR code image that opens the given URL in the scanning phone's browser. Optional styling: size, colors, patterns, a center logo or a background image. Returns the image as a file (PNG unless format is jpg or svg).
  • create_vcard_qr_codeCreate vcard qr codeGETGenerates a static QR code image holding a vCard: scanning it offers to save the contact (name, title, company, phones, email, website, address). Optional styling: size, colors, patterns, logo or background image. Returns the image as a file.
  • create_wifi_qr_codeCreate wifi qr codeGETGenerates a static QR code image with WiFi network details: Android phones offer to join the network, iPhones show the details as text. Optional styling: size, colors, patterns, logo or background image. Returns the image as a file.

Use QR API from Claude Code, Cursor or Codex

Connect QR API in LiveContext, create an API key in Settings, then add the LiveContext MCP server to your client. Its QR API operations become tools the client can call, next to every other integration you connected.

How to connect QR API

  1. Create your workspace

Sign up free. Nothing to install.

  2. Connect QR API once

Add your QR API connection in Settings. Every tool from this integration reuses it, and secrets are encrypted at rest and visible only to you.

  3. Describe the job in chat

The workflow builds itself in front of you and picks the endpoints it needs. Drag the steps yourself on the canvas whenever you would rather be explicit.
