Microsoft Planner integration

Microsoft Planner (Microsoft 365) through Microsoft Graph v1.0: list the plans shared with you or owned by a Microsoft 365 group, read a plan's buckets, tasks and category labels, read a task and its details (description, checklist, links), list the tasks assigned to you, and create plans, buckets and tasks with assignees, dates, priority and categories. Updating and deleting are not exposed: Planner requires the item's ETag on every change, and that value is not returned by these tools. Authentication is OAuth 2.0 with a Microsoft work or school account (delegated Tasks.ReadWrite); personal Microsoft accounts are not supported.

Ask it in chat

Say what should happen.
The workflow builds itself.

When this happens, do that in Microsoft Planner.Built from the 14 Microsoft Planner tools below, on the connection you add once.

What you can do with Microsoft Planner

Each of these is one operation on one endpoint, available both as a workflow step and as a tool an AI agent can call on its own. Nothing bundles several operations into one action, so what a run did stays readable afterwards.

Most endpoints run on the free plan. A few, mainly the ones that publish on your behalf, need a paid plan.

Task, 5 operations

  • create_taskCreate taskPOSTCreates a task in a plan, optionally in a bucket, with start and due dates, priority, progress and categories. With assignments it assigns the task to real people by user id, and Planner may email them about it.
  • get_taskGet taskGETReturns one task: title, plan and bucket ids, start, due and completion dates, percent complete, priority, categories, assignee user ids, creator and checklist counts.
  • list_bucket_tasksList bucket tasksGETLists the tasks in one bucket, with title, dates, percent complete, priority, applied categories and assignee user ids.
  • list_my_tasksList my tasksGETLists the Planner tasks assigned to the signed-in user, across all their plans, with title, plan and bucket ids, dates, progress, priority, categories and assignee user ids.
  • list_plan_tasksList plan tasksGETLists the tasks of a plan, with title, bucket id, start and due dates, percent complete, priority, applied categories and assignee user ids.

Plan, 4 operations

  • create_planCreate planPOSTCreates a plan in a Microsoft 365 group (the container). The signed-in user must be a member of that group. Returns the new plan with its id.
  • get_planGet planGETReturns one plan: its title, container (the group it belongs to), creator and creation date.
  • list_group_plansList group plansGETLists the plans owned by a Microsoft 365 group, with title, container, creator and creation date. Use a returned id with list_plan_buckets or list_plan_tasks.
  • list_my_plansList my plansGETLists the plans shared with the signed-in user (title, container group, creator, creation date). Use the returned id with list_plan_buckets or list_plan_tasks.

Bucket, 3 operations

  • create_bucketCreate bucketPOSTCreates a bucket (a task column) in a plan. Returns the new bucket with its id, which create_task takes as bucketId.
  • get_bucketGet bucketGETReturns one bucket: its name, plan id and order hint.
  • list_plan_bucketsList plan bucketsGETLists the buckets (task columns) of a plan, with name, plan id and order hint. Use a bucket id to place a new task with create_task.

Detail, 2 operations

  • get_plan_detailsGet plan detailsGETReturns a plan's details: the names given to its categories (category1 to category25 labels) and the user ids the plan is shared with.
  • get_task_detailsGet task detailsGETReturns a task's details: its description text, checklist items (title, checked state) and attached references (links), plus the preview type shown on the card.

Use Microsoft Planner from Claude Code, Cursor or Codex

Connect Microsoft Planner in LiveContext, create an API key in Settings, then add the LiveContext MCP server to your client. Its Microsoft Planner operations become tools the client can call, next to every other integration you connected.

How to connect Microsoft Planner

  1. Create your workspace

Sign up free. Nothing to install.

  2. Connect Microsoft Planner once

Add your Microsoft Planner connection in Settings. Every tool from this integration reuses it, and secrets are encrypted at rest and visible only to you.

  3. Describe the job in chat

The workflow builds itself in front of you and picks the endpoints it needs. Drag the steps yourself on the canvas whenever you would rather be explicit.
