LIFX integration
LIFX smart lights, remote-controlled through the LIFX cloud: list the account's lights with their power, color, brightness, group, location and capabilities, set or change state on any selection of lights (power, color, brightness, infrared, transition time), set many states at once, toggle power, cycle through states, run effects (breathe, pulse, move, morph, flame, clouds, sunrise, sunset) and stop them, switch clean (HEV) mode, list and activate scenes, and validate a color string. Every action changes real devices in the owner's home. The LAN protocol is not covered. Authentication is a personal access token generated at cloud.lifx.com/settings, sent as a Bearer token; each token is limited to 120 requests per 60 seconds (HTTP 429 beyond).
Say what should happen.
The workflow builds itself.
What you can do with LIFX
Each of these is one operation on one endpoint, available both as a workflow step and as a tool an AI agent can call on its own. Nothing bundles several operations into one action, so what a run did stays readable afterwards.
Most endpoints run on the free plan. A few, mainly the ones that publish on your behalf, need a paid plan.
Light effect, 9 operations
run_breathe_effectRun breathe effectPOSTRuns a real breathe effect on the matched lights: fades slowly between from_color and color for the given cycles, then restores the previous state unless persist is true. Zone selectors are ignored.run_clouds_effectRun clouds effectPOSTRuns a real clouds effect on the tiles in the selector, where supported (firmware 4.8 or later). Brightness follows the tile's brightness. duration 0 stops it.run_flame_effectRun flame effectPOSTRuns a real flame effect on the tiles in the selector. Brightness follows the tile's brightness (set it with set_light_state). Runs until stopped unless duration is set; 0 stops it.run_morph_effectRun morph effectPOSTRuns a real morph effect on the tiles in the selector, blending a palette of colors. Brightness follows the tile's brightness (set it with set_light_state). Runs until stopped unless duration is set; 0 stops it.run_move_effectRun move effectPOSTRuns a real move effect on linear devices with zones (strips): moves the current pattern across the device. Runs until stopped unless cycles is set; cycles 0 stops it.run_pulse_effectRun pulse effectPOSTRuns a real pulse effect on the matched lights: flashes quickly between from_color and color for the given cycles, then restores the previous state unless persist is true.run_sunrise_effectRun sunrise effectPOSTRuns a real sunrise effect on the tiles in the selector, where supported (firmware 4.8 or later), then reverts to the previous state unless persist is true; duration 0 stops it.run_sunset_effectRun sunset effectPOSTRuns a real sunset effect on the tiles in the selector, where supported (firmware 4.8 or later), then reverts to the previous state unless soft_off is true; duration 0 stops it.stop_light_effectsStop light effectsPOSTStops every running effect on the matched devices (breathe, pulse and the strip and tile firmware effects); with power_off true also turns them off.
Light, 6 operations
change_light_stateChange light statePOSTChanges real lights relative to their current state: rotates hue and adds to saturation, brightness or kelvin by the amounts given; power and duration behave as in set_light_state.cycle_light_statesCycle light statesPOSTChanges real lights: moves the matched lights to the next (or previous) state in a list of 2 to 10 states, looping back to the first; if no state matches the current one, the closest is applied.list_lightsList lightsGETLists the lights matched by a selector (all for every light) with power, color, brightness, running effect, group, location, model capabilities and when each was last seen. Always returns a list.set_light_stateSet light statePUTChanges real lights: sets power, color, brightness or infrared on every light the selector matches, over a transition time. Fields left out stay as they are. Returns one result per light.set_light_statesSet light statesPUTChanges real lights: applies up to 50 different states, each to its own selector, in one call. Returns, per operation, the operation sent and one result per light.toggle_light_powerToggle light powerPOSTChanges real lights: turns off every matched light if any is on, or turns them all on if all are off. Lights that are physically powered off are ignored. Returns one result per light.
Scene, 2 operations
activate_sceneActivate scenePUTChanges real lights: applies a saved scene to its devices over a transition time, optionally ignoring some properties or overriding them on every device. Returns one result per device.list_scenesList scenesGETLists the scenes saved in the account, each with its uuid (pass it to activate_scene), name, the per-device states it applies, and creation and update times.
Clean mode, 1 operation
set_clean_modeSet clean modePOSTSwitches clean (HEV disinfecting light) mode on or off on clean-capable LIFX devices for a set duration. Acts on real devices. Returns one result per device.
Color, 1 operation
validate_colorValidate colorGETChecks a color string and returns the hue, saturation, brightness and kelvin LIFX reads from it, without changing any light. An invalid string answers HTTP 422 with an error message.
Use LIFX from Claude Code, Cursor or Codex
Connect LIFX in LiveContext, create an API key in Settings, then add the LiveContext MCP server to your client. Its LIFX operations become tools the client can call, next to every other integration you connected.

}How to connect LIFX
- Create your workspace
Sign up free. Nothing to install.
- Connect LIFX once
Add your LIFX connection in Settings. Every tool from this integration reuses it, and secrets are encrypted at rest and visible only to you.
- Describe the job in chat
The workflow builds itself in front of you and picks the endpoints it needs. Drag the steps yourself on the canvas whenever you would rather be explicit.
