LanguageTool integration

LanguageTool is a grammar, style and spell checker for more than 30 languages. Check a text and get each issue with its position, explanation, the rule that matched and suggested replacements, list the supported languages, and manage the words of your personal dictionaries. Authentication uses your languagetool.org username (the email you log in with) and an API key from a Premium or API plan, both sent as query parameters on every call.

Ask it in chat

Say what should happen.
The workflow builds itself.

When this happens, do that in LanguageTool.Built from the 5 LanguageTool tools below, on the connection you add once.

What you can do with LanguageTool

Each of these is one operation on one endpoint, available both as a workflow step and as a tool an AI agent can call on its own. Nothing bundles several operations into one action, so what a run did stays readable afterwards.

Most endpoints run on the free plan. A few, mainly the ones that publish on your behalf, need a paid plan.

Word, 3 operations

  • add_wordAdd wordPOSTAdd a word to one of your personal dictionaries, so the checker stops flagging it. A personal dictionary should not contain more than 500 words. Returns added=false when the word was already there.
  • delete_wordDelete wordPOSTRemove a word from one of your personal dictionaries. Returns deleted=false when the word was not in the dictionary.
  • list_wordsList wordsGETList the words in your personal dictionaries, 10 at a time by default. Use offset and limit to page through them.

Check, 1 operation

  • check_textCheck textPOSTCheck a text for grammar, style and spelling issues. Returns each match with its offset and length in the text, a message, suggested replacements and the rule that found it. Give the text as text, or as data to mark which parts are markup.

Language, 1 operation

  • list_languagesList languagesGETList the languages LanguageTool supports, each with its name, short code (en) and long code with variant (en-US), to pass as language to check_text.

Use LanguageTool from Claude Code, Cursor or Codex

Connect LanguageTool in LiveContext, create an API key in Settings, then add the LiveContext MCP server to your client. Its LanguageTool operations become tools the client can call, next to every other integration you connected.

How to connect LanguageTool

  1. Create your workspace

Sign up free. Nothing to install.

  2. Connect LanguageTool once

Add your LanguageTool connection in Settings. Every tool from this integration reuses it, and secrets are encrypted at rest and visible only to you.

  3. Describe the job in chat

The workflow builds itself in front of you and picks the endpoints it needs. Drag the steps yourself on the canvas whenever you would rather be explicit.
