ISBNdb integration
ISBNdb is a book metadata database of more than 100 million books. Look up a book by ISBN-10 or ISBN-13 (with live merchant prices on plans that include them), fetch many books by ISBN in one call (10 to 1,000 per call depending on the plan), search books by free text or by author, publisher, subject or ISBN fields, list an author's or a publisher's books, search author and publisher names, follow recently added or updated ISBNs (Pro plans and above), and read your plan, remaining daily quota and the catalogue size. The vendor's deprecated routes (subject name search, a subject's books, and the older author, publisher and subject name searches) are not exposed. Authentication is the ISBNdb REST key from your dashboard, sent raw (no prefix) in the Authorization header.

What you can do with ISBNdb
Each of these is one operation on one endpoint, available both as a workflow step and as a tool an AI agent can call on its own. Nothing bundles several operations into one action, so what a run did stays readable afterwards.
Most endpoints run on the free plan. A few, mainly the ones that publish on your behalf, need a paid plan.
Book, 4 operations
get_bookGet bookGETReturns one book by ISBN-10 or ISBN-13: title, authors, publisher, date, binding, pages, synopsis, cover images and other editions, plus live prices when with_prices is true on a Pro plan or above. A 404 often clears within 24 hours.get_books_by_isbnGet books by isbnPOSTReturns many books from a list of ISBNs (up to 10 on Academic, 100 on Basic, 1,000 on Pro and above). Each valid ISBN costs one daily call; ISBNs not found are left out, so match results by ISBN, not position. No prices.search_booksSearch booksGETSearches books by free text (at most 150 characters) across title, author, year and subjects, or in one column, filtered by year, edition, language or date range. Returns a page of books and the total (counted up to 10,000).search_books_by_fieldSearch books by fieldGETSearches books by isbn or isbn13, or by any of author, text, subject and publisher, with an optional date range. At least one filter is required and an ISBN cannot be mixed with the other fields (both answer 400). No prices.

Key, 1 operation
get_key_usageGet key usageGETReturns the plan behind the API key and today's quota: the daily allowance, calls spent and calls left (for the subscription and for this key), which allowance runs out first, and the API host to use. Does not count against the daily limit.
Stat, 1 operation
get_catalogue_statsGet catalogue statsGETReturns how many books, authors, publishers and subjects the database currently holds. The counts are cached for one hour.
Update, 1 operation

Use ISBNdb from Claude Code, Cursor or Codex
Connect ISBNdb in LiveContext, create an API key in Settings, then add the LiveContext MCP server to your client. Its ISBNdb operations become tools the client can call, next to every other integration you connected.

}How to connect ISBNdb
- Create your workspace
Sign up free. Nothing to install.
- Connect ISBNdb once
Add your ISBNdb connection in Settings. Every tool from this integration reuses it, and secrets are encrypted at rest and visible only to you.
- Describe the job in chat
The workflow builds itself in front of you and picks the endpoints it needs. Drag the steps yourself on the canvas whenever you would rather be explicit.
