Integration

Hex integration

Hex is a collaborative data workspace of SQL and Python notebooks published as data apps. Run published projects with input values and track or cancel runs, list and inspect projects, read and edit draft notebook cells, get chart images and SQL cell output, export a project as YAML, start and follow Hex agent threads, manage collections, groups, users, sharing, data connections, guides and context suggestions, create embedding URLs, and read agent credit usage. Semantic model ingestion and endorsement routes are not exposed. Authentication is a personal access or workspace token sent as a Bearer token; the host is app.hex.tech for most workspaces, or the workspace's own Hex host (eu, a single-tenant or HIPAA name).

Ask it in chat

Say what should happen.
The workflow builds itself.

When this happens, do that in Hex.Built from the 58 Hex tools below, on the connection you add once.

What you can do with Hex

Each of these is one operation on one endpoint, available both as a workflow step and as a tool an AI agent can call on its own. Nothing bundles several operations into one action, so what a run did stays readable afterwards.

Most endpoints run on the free plan. A few, mainly the ones that publish on your behalf, need a paid plan.

Group, 6 operations

  • create_groupCreate groupPOSTCreates a user group with a name and optional members (users by id). Returns the group with its id.
  • delete_groupDelete groupDELETEDeletes a user group by id.
  • edit_groupEdit groupPATCHRenames a user group, or adds and removes its members (members.add and members.remove, by user id).
  • edit_project_sharing_groupsEdit project sharing groupsPATCHAdd groups to a project or update/remove their project sharing access. Use CAN_VIEW for the UI permission labeled "Can explore" and APP_ONLY for "Can view app". Use NONE to remove a group's access.
  • get_groupGet groupGETReturns one user group by id with its name and creation date.

Use Hex from Claude Code, Cursor or Codex

Connect Hex in LiveContext, create an API key in Settings, then add the LiveContext MCP server to your client. Its Hex operations become tools the client can call, next to every other integration you connected.

How to connect Hex

  1. Create your workspace

Sign up free. Nothing to install.

  2. Connect Hex once

Add your Hex connection in Settings. Every tool from this integration reuses it, and secrets are encrypted at rest and visible only to you.

  3. Describe the job in chat

The workflow builds itself in front of you and picks the endpoints it needs. Drag the steps yourself on the canvas whenever you would rather be explicit.
