Integration

Gupshup integration

Gupshup is a WhatsApp Business messaging platform. Send WhatsApp session messages (text, media, location, reactions, lists, quick replies) to users who wrote in the last 24 hours and approved template messages to anyone, list and read your message templates, read and update the business profile, About text and photo, block and unblock users, mark inbound messages as read, and manage the event subscriptions that forward webhooks to your callback URLs. Creating, editing and deleting templates, catalog and multi-product messages, MM Lite marketing messages, media uploads and the partner portal API are not exposed. Authentication is the app API key sent in the apikey header, together with the Gupshup app id, which every app route uses.

Say what should happen.
The workflow builds itself.

When this happens, do that in Gupshup.Built from the 20 Gupshup tools below, on the connection you add once.

What you can do with Gupshup

Each of these is one operation on one endpoint, available both as a workflow step and as a tool an AI agent can call on its own. Nothing bundles several operations into one action, so what a run did stays readable afterwards.

Most endpoints run on the free plan. A few, mainly the ones that publish on your behalf, need a paid plan.

Profile, 6 operations

  • get_business_profileGet business profileGETReturns the WhatsApp business profile shown to users: address lines, city, state, postal code, country, description, profile email, vertical and two websites.
  • get_profile_aboutGet profile aboutGETReturns the About text of the WhatsApp business profile (in about.message).
  • get_profile_photoGet profile photoGETReturns the URL of the WhatsApp business profile photo (in message).
  • update_business_profileUpdate business profilePUTUpdates the WhatsApp business profile shown to users (address, description, email, vertical, websites) and returns the profile as saved.
  • update_profile_aboutUpdate profile aboutPUTReplaces the About text of the WhatsApp business profile and returns the new text.
  • update_profile_photoUpdate profile photoPUTReplaces the WhatsApp business profile photo with an uploaded image file.

Subscription, 6 operations

  • create_subscriptionCreate subscriptionPOSTAdds a subscription: Gupshup also forwards the chosen event types (message, delivery, read, template, account, billing events) to this callback URL.
  • delete_all_subscriptionsDelete all subscriptionsDELETEDeletes every event subscription of your Gupshup app at once. This cannot be undone: each one would have to be added again.
  • delete_subscriptionDelete subscriptionDELETEDeletes one event subscription of your Gupshup app; events stop being forwarded to its callback URL.
  • get_subscriptionGet subscriptionGETReturns one event subscription of your Gupshup app by id. The response is passed through whole: Gupshup does not document its fields.
  • list_subscriptionsList subscriptionsGETLists the event subscriptions (secondary callback URLs) of your Gupshup app, with their ids, URLs, tags and event modes. The response is passed through whole: Gupshup does not document its fields.
  • update_subscriptionUpdate subscriptionPUTUpdates an event subscription: its callback URL, tag, version, event modes and whether it is active. All five fields are required, so read the current values with get_subscription first.

Message, 3 operations

  • mark_message_as_readMark message as readPUTMarks an inbound WhatsApp message as read, so the user sees the blue read ticks. Works for live apps only. Answers with an empty body.
  • send_session_messageSend session messagePOSTSends a free-form WhatsApp session message (text, media, location, reaction, list, quick reply or CTA URL) to a user who wrote in the last 24 hours. A real send from your business number, billed to your Gupshup wallet when chargeable.
  • send_template_messageSend template messagePOSTSends an approved WhatsApp template message (text, media, location, coupon, carousel, authentication, limited-time offer) to any user, even outside the 24 hour window. Billed send: WhatsApp charges per delivered template, from your Gupshup wallet.

Template, 2 operations

  • get_templateGet templateGETReturns one WhatsApp template of your Gupshup app by its Gupshup template id: name, category, status, quality, language, body text and Meta template id.
  • list_templatesList templatesGETLists the WhatsApp message templates of your Gupshup app with their id, name (elementName), category, status, quality, language and body text. Filter by status, category, type, quality or language.

User, 2 operations

  • block_usersBlock usersPOSTBlocks WhatsApp users: they can no longer message your business and you can no longer message them. Only users who messaged you in the last 24 hours can be blocked; the blocklist holds up to 64,000 users.
  • unblock_usersUnblock usersPOSTUnblocks WhatsApp users you blocked earlier with block_users, so they can message your business again and you can message them.

Business, 1 operation

  • get_business_detailsGet business detailsGETReturns the business details of your Gupshup app: about text, address, contact name, number and email, websites, vertical and verification flags.

Use Gupshup from Claude Code, Cursor or Codex

Connect Gupshup in LiveContext, create an API key in Settings, then add the LiveContext MCP server to your client. Its Gupshup operations become tools the client can call, next to every other integration you connected.

How to connect Gupshup

  1. Create your workspace

Sign up free. Nothing to install.

  2. Connect Gupshup once

Add your Gupshup connection in Settings. Every tool from this integration reuses it, and secrets are encrypted at rest and visible only to you.

  3. Describe the job in chat

The workflow builds itself in front of you and picks the endpoints it needs. Drag the steps yourself on the canvas whenever you would rather be explicit.
