GetYouTubeTranscript integration

GetYouTubeTranscript returns YouTube data without the YouTube Data API: a video's transcript from its own captions (plain text or timed segments, optionally machine-translated) and its caption languages, YouTube search for videos or channels, a channel's details, latest uploads, full video list, playlists, community posts and banner, a playlist's videos, related videos, estimated likes and dislikes, and batches of up to 100 transcripts fetched in the background. Videos with captions turned off cannot be transcribed. Every call except get_credits and get_transcript_batch costs 1 credit when it succeeds (failed calls are free); the account self-signup routes are not exposed. Authentication is an API key (sk_live_...) from the GetYouTubeTranscript dashboard, sent as a Bearer token.

Ask it in chat

Say what should happen.
The workflow builds itself.

When this happens, do that in GetYouTubeTranscript.Built from the 16 GetYouTubeTranscript tools below, on the connection you add once.

What you can do with GetYouTubeTranscript

Each of these is one operation on one endpoint, available both as a workflow step and as a tool an AI agent can call on its own. Nothing bundles several operations into one action, so what a run did stays readable afterwards.

Each badge shows the default agent permission of an endpoint (allowed: an agent calls it without asking; ask first: you are asked before an agent calls it, when the agent or chat asks permission for sensitive actions; never: no agent may call it), which every user can change endpoint by endpoint in their credential settings.

Most endpoints run on the free plan. A few, mainly the ones that publish on your behalf, need a paid plan.

Channel, 2 operations

  • get_channel_latest_videosGet channel latest videosGETAgents: ask firstReturns a channel's details (title, handle, description, subscribers, video count, avatar) and its 15 newest uploads. For the full upload history use list_channel_videos. Costs 1 credit.
  • resolve_channelResolve channelGETAgents: ask firstResolves a channel @handle, URL or username to its channel id (UC...), with the channel's title and handle. Costs 1 credit; an input that already contains a channel id resolves without a lookup.

Channel video, 2 operations

  • list_channel_videosList channel videosGETAgents: ask firstLists every video a channel has uploaded (or its shorts or live streams), newest first by default, one page at a time; pass continuation_token as continuation for the next page. Costs 1 credit per page.
  • search_channel_videosSearch channel videosGETAgents: ask firstSearches one channel's videos for a query and returns a page of matches; pass continuation_token as continuation for the next page. Costs 1 credit per page.

Transcript batch, 2 operations

  • create_transcript_batchCreate transcript batchPOSTAgents: ask firstQueues transcripts for up to 100 videos and returns a batch_id at once; poll get_transcript_batch for results. Costs 1 credit per video that returns a transcript; failed videos are free. At most 5 unfinished batches.
  • get_transcript_batchGet transcript batchGETAgents: ask firstReturns a transcript batch's status, counts and a page of its results in submission order (succeeded items with the transcript, failed ones with an error_code). Free; call it again until pending is 0.

Channel banner, 1 operation

  • get_channel_bannerGet channel bannerGETAgents: ask firstReturns a channel's uncropped banner, every crop size YouTube serves, and its avatar; has_banner is false when the channel has none. Costs 1 credit.

Channel playlist, 1 operation

  • list_channel_playlistsList channel playlistsGETAgents: ask firstLists a channel's playlists (its Playlists tab), one page at a time; pass a playlist id to list_playlist_videos, and continuation_token as continuation for the next page. Costs 1 credit per page.

Channel post, 1 operation

  • list_channel_postsList channel postsGETAgents: ask firstLists a channel's community posts (its Posts tab): text, links, likes, comments and any attached image, video or poll; pass continuation_token as continuation for the next page. Costs 1 credit per page.

Credits, 1 operation

  • get_creditsGet creditsGETAgents: ask firstReturns the API key's remaining credits (plan and top-up), plan name and rate limit per minute. Free, but still rate limited.

Playlist video, 1 operation

  • list_playlist_videosList playlist videosGETAgents: ask firstLists the videos of a YouTube playlist, one page at a time; pass continuation_token as continuation for the next page. Costs 1 credit per page.

Related video, 1 operation

  • list_related_videosList related videosGETAgents: ask firstReturns the videos YouTube suggests next to a video: id, title, link, channel, views, age, length and thumbnail. Pass an id to get_transcript for what it says. Costs 1 credit.

Transcript, 1 operation

  • get_transcriptGet transcriptGETAgents: ask firstReturns a YouTube video's transcript from its captions as one text block, plus title, channel and thumbnail; timestamps=true adds timed segments and translate machine-translates it. Costs 1 credit; videos without captions fail free.

Transcript language, 1 operation

  • list_transcript_languagesList transcript languagesGETAgents: ask firstLists the caption languages a video offers, creator-uploaded (manual) and speech recognition (auto), one entry per language and type, to pick a language for get_transcript. Costs 1 credit; captions turned off give an empty list.

Video dislikes, 1 operation

  • get_video_dislikesGet video dislikesGETAgents: ask firstReturns a video's estimated likes, dislikes, star rating and view count. YouTube no longer publishes dislikes, so these are estimates from Return YouTube Dislike (estimated is always true). Costs 1 credit.

Youtube search, 1 operation

  • search_youtubeSearch youtubeGETAgents: ask firstSearches YouTube for videos (default) or channels and returns one page of results; pass continuation_token as page_token for the next page. Costs 1 credit per page.

Use GetYouTubeTranscript from Claude Code, Cursor or Codex

Connect GetYouTubeTranscript in LiveContext, create an API key in Settings, then add the LiveContext MCP server to your client. Its GetYouTubeTranscript operations become tools the client can call, next to every other integration you connected.

How to connect GetYouTubeTranscript

  1. Create your workspace

Sign up free. Nothing to install.

  2. Connect GetYouTubeTranscript once

Add your GetYouTubeTranscript connection in Settings. Every tool from this integration reuses it, and secrets are encrypted at rest and visible only to you.

  3. Describe the job in chat

The workflow builds itself in front of you and picks the endpoints it needs. Drag the steps yourself on the canvas whenever you would rather be explicit.
