Integration

FreeAgent integration

FreeAgent is UK accounting software for freelancers and small businesses. With this integration an agent can list, read, create and update contacts (clients and suppliers), read sales invoices with their amounts, status and line items, read projects, and list, read and create project tasks. Not exposed: anything that moves or records money (invoice creation, updates, deletion, emailing and status changes such as mark as sent or cancelled, Direct Debit payment collection, credit notes, bills, expenses, bank accounts and transactions), timeslips, estimates, tax returns, and deleting contacts or tasks. Each call acts as the FreeAgent user who connected the account, within that user's access level (Time, Contacts and Projects, or Estimates and Invoices). Authentication is OAuth 2.0 (authorization code), with access tokens refreshed automatically.

Ask it in chat

Say what should happen.
The workflow builds itself.

When this happens, do that in FreeAgent.Built from the 11 FreeAgent tools below, on the connection you add once.

What you can do with FreeAgent

Each of these is one operation on one endpoint, available both as a workflow step and as a tool an AI agent can call on its own. Nothing bundles several operations into one action, so what a run did stays readable afterwards.

Most endpoints run on the free plan. A few, mainly the ones that publish on your behalf, need a paid plan.

Contact, 4 operations

  • create_contactCreate contactPOSTCreates a contact (client or supplier). Give first_name and last_name, or organisation_name. Returns the contact with its url.
  • get_contactGet contactGETReturns one contact with its name, organisation, email, phone, address, invoicing settings and account balance. Holds personal contact data.
  • list_contactsList contactsGETLists contacts (clients and suppliers), active ones by default, 25 per page. Email, phone and address are personal data and need the Contacts and Projects permission.
  • update_contactUpdate contactPUTUpdates a contact: only the attributes you pass in contact change. Email, phone and address attributes need the Contacts and Projects permission.

Task, 3 operations

  • create_taskCreate taskPOSTCreates a task under a project, given by the project's numeric id in project. Returns the task with its url.
  • get_taskGet taskGETReturns one task with its project, billing rate, billing period, status and whether it can be deleted.
  • list_tasksList tasksGETLists the tasks of your projects with billing rate and status, 25 per page; filter by project, view or update date.

Invoice, 2 operations

  • get_invoiceGet invoiceGETReturns one sales invoice with its contact, dates, amounts (net, tax, total, paid, due), status, email settings and line items. Needs the Estimates and Invoices permission.
  • list_invoicesList invoicesGETLists sales invoices with their line items, sorted by creation time by default, 25 per page; filter by view, contact, project or update date. Needs the Estimates and Invoices permission.

Project, 2 operations

  • get_projectGet projectGETReturns one project with its contact, budget, billing rate, currency, status and whether it can be deleted. Needs the Contacts and Projects permission.
  • list_projectsList projectsGETLists projects with their contact, budget, billing rate and status, 25 per page; filter by view or contact. Needs the Contacts and Projects permission.

Use FreeAgent from Claude Code, Cursor or Codex

Connect FreeAgent in LiveContext, create an API key in Settings, then add the LiveContext MCP server to your client. Its FreeAgent operations become tools the client can call, next to every other integration you connected.

How to connect FreeAgent

  1. Create your workspace

Sign up free. Nothing to install.

  2. Connect FreeAgent once

Add your FreeAgent connection in Settings. Every tool from this integration reuses it, and secrets are encrypted at rest and visible only to you.

  3. Describe the job in chat

The workflow builds itself in front of you and picks the endpoints it needs. Drag the steps yourself on the canvas whenever you would rather be explicit.
