Excalidraw Plus integration

Excalidraw Plus is the hosted, collaborative edition of the Excalidraw hand-drawn whiteboard. List, read, create, rename, move, pin and trash scenes (drawings) and the collections that organize them; read a scene's full content (elements, image files, background) and write it, either merged into the existing drawing or replacing it whole; read and update the workspace; list, read, update and remove its members; manage workspace invites (by email or as a link) and read the workspace audit log. Members, invites and audit logs carry personal data (emails, names, IP addresses). The API is in public beta and may change. Not covered: the MCP endpoint, creating or editing sharing links (they can only be read), restoring from the trash, and assigning members to teams. Authentication is an Excalidraw Plus API key created in the workspace settings, sent as a Bearer token: a personal key acts as one member and reaches that member's private collection with the id private; a workspace key cannot.

Ask it in chat

Say what should happen.
The workflow builds itself.

When this happens, do that in Excalidraw Plus.Built from the 27 Excalidraw Plus tools below, on the connection you add once.

What you can do with Excalidraw Plus

Each of these is one operation on one endpoint, available both as a workflow step and as a tool an AI agent can call on its own. Nothing bundles several operations into one action, so what a run did stays readable afterwards.

Most endpoints run on the free plan. A few, mainly the ones that publish on your behalf, need a paid plan.

Scene, 7 operations

  • create_collection_sceneCreate collection scenePOSTCreates an empty scene (drawing) in the given collection. Add drawing content afterwards with merge_scene_content or replace_scene_content.
  • create_sceneCreate scenePOSTCreates an empty scene (drawing) in a collection. Add drawing content afterwards with merge_scene_content or replace_scene_content.
  • delete_sceneDelete sceneDELETEMoves a scene to the trash (soft delete, restorable from the trash in the app). Its existing links and integrations may stop working while it is in the trash.
  • get_sceneGet sceneGETReturns one scene's metadata: name, collection, creation and update dates, pinned and private flags, element counts, and its read-only and shared-slides links. Not the drawing itself: use get_scene_content.
  • list_collection_scenesList collection scenesGETLists the scenes of one collection, 10 per page by default (100 max), with their metadata and links. Use private with a personal key for its owner's private collection.
  • list_scenesList scenesGETLists the scenes (drawings) of the workspace, 10 per page by default (100 max), with their metadata (name, collection, dates, pinned, element counts) and their read-only and shared-slides links. Filter by collection.
  • update_sceneUpdate scenePATCHRenames, pins or unpins a scene, or moves it to another collection. Only the fields sent change. Moving a scene can change who can access it, per the target collection's settings.

Collection, 5 operations

  • create_collectionCreate collectionPOSTCreates a shared collection (a folder of scenes) in the workspace, with the given name.
  • delete_collectionDelete collectionDELETEMoves a collection to the trash (soft delete, not a permanent deletion).
  • get_collectionGet collectionGETReturns one collection: name, emoji, whether it is the default one, its teams, creator, dates and trash state.
  • list_collectionsList collectionsGETLists the collections (folders of scenes) the API key can see, 10 per page by default (100 max). A personal key also gets its owner's private collection, with the id private.
  • update_collectionUpdate collectionPATCHRenames a collection (the name is the only field this tool changes).

Invite, 5 operations

  • create_inviteCreate invitePOSTInvites someone to the workspace: with email, Excalidraw invites that address (a message reaches that person); without email, it creates an invite link, optionally limited in uses and to email domains.
  • delete_inviteDelete inviteDELETEDeletes a workspace invite: its link or email can no longer be used to join.
  • get_inviteGet inviteGETReturns one workspace invite: type (email or link), status, invited email, role, who redeemed it and when, uses, maximum uses and allowed email domains.
  • list_invitesList invitesGETLists the workspace invites, 10 per page by default (100 max): type (email or link), status (pending, redeemed or rejected), invited email, role, uses and limits.
  • update_inviteUpdate invitePATCHChanges an invite's email, role, maximum uses or allowed email domains. The docs do not say whether fields left out are kept: send every field you want set.

User, 4 operations

  • delete_userDelete userDELETERemoves a member from the workspace: their access is revoked and their workspace-specific data is removed.
  • get_userGet userGETReturns one workspace member: name, email, picture, role, teams, last activity, preferences and recently visited and edited scenes. Personal data.
  • list_usersList usersGETLists the workspace members, 10 per page by default (100 max), with name, email, picture, role, teams, last activity and preferences. Personal data.
  • update_userUpdate userPATCHChanges a member's name, picture, role (member or admin) or preferences. Emails cannot be changed through the API. The docs do not say whether fields left out are kept: send every field you want set.

Content, 3 operations

  • get_scene_contentGet scene contentGETReturns a scene's drawing: every element (shapes, lines, arrows, text, images...), embedded image files as data URLs, background color and scene version. Large scenes give large answers.
  • merge_scene_contentMerge scene contentPATCHMerges elements, files or app state into a scene without replacing it: elements are matched by id (higher version wins), others are kept, and isDeleted true deletes one. Send at least one field.
  • replace_scene_contentReplace scene contentPUTReplaces a scene's whole drawing with the elements, files and app state sent: elements left out are removed, and editors that have the scene open are forced to reload. Use merge_scene_content for partial edits.

Workspace, 2 operations

  • get_workspaceGet workspaceGETReturns the workspace: name, picture, member ids with their roles (member or admin), blocked users, subscription status and workspace preferences (AI, sharing, personal API keys).
  • update_workspaceUpdate workspacePATCHRenames the workspace or changes its picture. The docs do not say whether a field left out is kept, so send both name and picture (the current value from get_workspace for the one you keep).

Log, 1 operation

  • list_logsList logsGETLists the workspace audit log (who did what and when, from where), with cursor or page paging. Filter by user, action, operation or dates. Personal data: user emails and IP addresses.

Use Excalidraw Plus from Claude Code, Cursor or Codex

Connect Excalidraw Plus in LiveContext, create an API key in Settings, then add the LiveContext MCP server to your client. Its Excalidraw Plus operations become tools the client can call, next to every other integration you connected.

How to connect Excalidraw Plus

  1. Create your workspace

Sign up free. Nothing to install.

  2. Connect Excalidraw Plus once

Add your Excalidraw Plus connection in Settings. Every tool from this integration reuses it, and secrets are encrypted at rest and visible only to you.

  3. Describe the job in chat

The workflow builds itself in front of you and picks the endpoints it needs. Drag the steps yourself on the canvas whenever you would rather be explicit.
