Integration

Emboss integration

Emboss turns flat or scanned PDF forms into fillable ones and fills them. Create a form from a PDF or from its library of blank government forms, read the detected field contract, fill it from values you supply (a session), from supporting documents (a context fill or a reviewable proposal), or from a spreadsheet (a batch fill), read a filled PDF back, run free PDF utilities, and fax a PDF to a US, Canadian or Mexican number. Creations, fills, reads and faxes are billed per job after a small monthly free tier; faxing needs a card on file. The anonymous pay-per-call routes (paid per request with x402 or MPP), the OAuth and app sign-in routes, the signed download links and the inbound webhook receivers are not exposed. Authentication is an Emboss API key (sk_...) sent as a Bearer token.

The workflow builds itself.

When this happens, do that in Emboss.Built from the 40 Emboss tools below, on the connection you add once.

What you can do with Emboss

Each of these is one operation on one endpoint, available both as a workflow step and as a tool an AI agent can call on its own. Nothing bundles several operations into one action, so what a run did stays readable afterwards.

Most endpoints run on the free plan. A few, mainly the ones that publish on your behalf, need a paid plan.

Form, 4 operations

  • create_formCreate formPOSTTurns a flat or scanned PDF, or a library form, into a fillable form (billed as one creation). Returns the form: status ready or failed with error. Waits for the job and returns the finished result; gives up after 10 minutes.
  • delete_formDelete formDELETEDeletes a form and the documents behind it (uploads and filled outputs). Answers 409 while a fill, batch or context job on the form is still running.
  • get_formGet formGETReturns a form's processing status (processing, ready or failed, with error), its title, warnings, retention and the artifact id of its fillable PDF once ready.
  • list_formsList formsGETList the forms in your account's library.

Pdf, 3 operations

  • download_batch_row_pdfDownload batch row pdfGETDownloads one filled PDF of a batch by its row number. Answers 404 if that row is still processing or failed.
  • download_proposal_pdfDownload proposal pdfGETDownloads the filled PDF produced by a proposal's most recent commit. Answers 404 before the first commit.
  • download_session_pdfDownload session pdfGETDownloads a session's filled PDF. A session you opened must be filled with fill_session first (else 409 not_filled); a session produced by a context fill downloads at no extra charge.

With context, 3 operations

  • create_and_fill_form_from_documentsCreate and fill form from documentsPOSTMakes a PDF form fillable and fills it from supporting documents (billed as a creation plus a context fill). Returns the job: session_id and fill report. Waits for the job and returns the finished result; gives up after 10 minutes.
  • fill_form_from_documentsFill form from documentsPOSTFills a ready form from supporting documents (billed as one context fill). Returns the job: session_id for download_session_pdf and the fill report. Waits for the job and returns the finished result; gives up after 10 minutes.
  • get_fill_jobGet fill jobGETReturns a context-fill, prepare or commit job: status (processing, ready or failed with error code and message), session_id or proposal_id, the fill report and the artifacts it produced.

Attachment, 2 operations

  • add_proposal_attachmentAdd proposal attachmentPOSTAttaches a supporting document (PDF, PNG or JPEG) to a proposal still in status proposed, before committing it. Sending the same for again replaces the earlier file. Returns the attachment number.
  • remove_proposal_attachmentRemove proposal attachmentDELETERemoves one attachment from a proposal by its number, deleting the stored file. Answers 404 if no attachment has that number.

Fax, 2 operations

  • get_fax_receiptGet fax receiptGETReturns a fax receipt. Poll until status is delivered, failed or expired; while working it carries attempts and a message (busy or unanswered lines are retried for about 17 minutes).
  • send_faxSend faxPOSTFaxes a PDF to a US, Canadian or Mexican number: 3 cents per page, needs a card on file. Pass exactly one source. Returns a job at once; follow it with get_fax_receipt.

Fill batch, 2 operations

  • get_batch_fillGet batch fillGETReturns a batch fill's status (complete or failed when done), how many rows filled and failed, and the per-row results.
  • start_batch_fillStart batch fillPOSTStarts filling one copy of a ready form per spreadsheet row (up to 1000), each billed as one standard fill. Returns batch_id at once: poll get_batch_fill until complete.

Prepare, 2 operations

  • create_form_and_prepare_proposalCreate form and prepare proposalPOSTCreates a form from a flat PDF and proposes field values from supporting documents (a creation plus a context fill). Returns the job with proposal_id. Waits for the job and returns the finished result; gives up after 10 minutes.
  • prepare_proposalPrepare proposalPOSTProposes a value for every field of a ready form from supporting documents, writing no PDF (one context fill). Returns the job with proposal_id. Waits for the job and returns the finished result; gives up after 10 minutes.

Session, 2 operations

  • create_sessionCreate sessionPOSTOpens a fill session over a ready form, for setting values yourself. Returns the session_id, the form state and the required fields still missing. Next: set_session_fields, then fill_session.
  • get_sessionGet sessionGETReturns a session's status (active, then completed once filled), the values set so far keyed by field id, and once filled the artifact id of the filled PDF.

Artifact, 1 operation

  • get_artifactGet artifactGETReturns a file's metadata (kind, MIME type, size, SHA-256, page count, status) and its one-hop lineage: which operation produced it, from which inputs, and what later used it.

Commit, 1 operation

  • commit_proposalCommit proposalPOSTWrites a proposal onto a filled PDF; free unless package is true. At most 10 commits per proposal. Returns the job; get the file with download_proposal_pdf. Waits for the job and returns the finished result; gives up after 10 minutes.

Content, 1 operation

  • download_artifactDownload artifactGETDownloads the bytes an artifact holds, such as a job's filled PDF. Answers 410 once retention has deleted the file.

Contract, 1 operation

  • get_form_contractGet form contractGETReturns a ready form's contract: every detected field's id, label, type, page and position, plus detection warnings. Field ids are what set_session_fields and commit_proposal take. Answers 409 while still processing.

Field, 1 operation

  • set_session_fieldsSet session fieldsPUTSets field values on a session, free of charge. Unknown field ids are refused with 422 and nothing is applied. Returns the updated state and the fields applied.

Fill, 1 operation

  • fill_sessionFill sessionPOSTRenders every value set on the session onto the PDF and marks the session completed. This is the billed step (one standard fill). Then download_session_pdf returns the file.

Fillable, 1 operation

  • download_fillable_pdfDownload fillable pdfGETDownloads a ready form's blank fillable PDF, with the detected fields turned into real form widgets and no values entered.

Library, 1 operation

  • search_form_librarySearch form libraryGETLists the blank government forms Emboss keeps, or searches them by name or number (such as W-9). Pass a result's slug as library to create_form.

Quote, 1 operation

Read, 1 operation

Use Emboss from Claude Code, Cursor or Codex

Connect Emboss in LiveContext, create an API key in Settings, then add the LiveContext MCP server to your client. Its Emboss operations become tools the client can call, next to every other integration you connected.

How to connect Emboss

  1. Create your workspace

Sign up free. Nothing to install.

  2. Connect Emboss once

Add your Emboss connection in Settings. Every tool from this integration reuses it, and secrets are encrypted at rest and visible only to you.

  3. Describe the job in chat

The workflow builds itself in front of you and picks the endpoints it needs. Drag the steps yourself on the canvas whenever you would rather be explicit.
