Conversion Tools integration

Conversion Tools converts files between 100+ formats (XML, JSON, Excel, CSV, PDF, Word, images, websites to PDF or JPG, and AI-powered extractions). Look up a conversion type and its options with list_conversions, upload a file with upload_file (or pass a public URL), run convert_file which waits for the result, then fetch the output with download_file. You can also list recent tasks, read file metadata, shorten a task's file retention and delete a task's files. Each successful conversion counts against the account's monthly quota (Free: 10 per day, at most 100 per month, 20 MB files; paid plans 1,000 to 5,000 per month and 50 to 500 MB files); failed conversions are not counted, sandbox mode is unlimited, and AI-powered conversions use separate AI credits (100 per month on every plan). Result files are kept 24 hours. The completion webhook (callbackUrl) is not exposed, since convert_file already waits for the result. Authentication is an API token from the Conversion Tools Profile page, sent as Authorization: Bearer <token>.

The workflow builds itself.

When this happens, do that in Conversion Tools.Built from the 12 Conversion Tools tools below, on the connection you add once.

What you can do with Conversion Tools

Each of these is one operation on one endpoint, available both as a workflow step and as a tool an AI agent can call on its own. Nothing bundles several operations into one action, so what a run did stays readable afterwards.

Most endpoints run on the free plan. A few, mainly the ones that publish on your behalf, need a paid plan.

Task, 3 operations

  • convert_fileConvert filePOSTRuns a conversion and returns status SUCCESS with the result file_id for download_file; fails on ERROR. Counts one conversion against the quota unless sandbox. Waits for the job and returns the finished result; gives up after 10 minutes.
  • get_taskGet taskGETReturns a conversion task's status (PENDING, RUNNING, SUCCESS or ERROR), progress in percent and, on SUCCESS, the result file_id for download_file. Does not count against the quota.
  • list_tasksList tasksGETLists the account's 50 most recent conversion tasks with status, input and result files and retention. Optionally filter by status. No paging. Does not count against the quota.

Conversion, 2 operations

  • get_conversionGet conversionGETReturns one conversion type with its options (key, kind, allowed values, default) and any extra file inputs. Use it before convert_file to know which options to send.
  • list_conversionsList conversionsGETLists the standard conversion types with input and output format and options. Pass a type value to convert_file. Filter with input, output or ai. No quota used.

File, 2 operations

  • download_fileDownload fileGETDownloads a file by id, usually the converted result (file_id from convert_file or get_task once status is SUCCESS). Returns the file. Does not count against the quota.
  • upload_fileUpload filePOSTUploads a file for conversion and returns its file_id, to pass in the options of convert_file. Upload size is capped by plan (Free 20 MB). Does not count against the quota.

Account, 1 operation

  • get_accountGet accountGETReturns the email address of the Conversion Tools account the API token belongs to. Use it to check that the token works. Does not count against the quota.

Converter, 1 operation

  • list_custom_convertersList custom convertersGETLists the custom converters enabled for the account and its published AI Studio converters (most accounts have none). For the standard conversion types use list_conversions. Does not count against the quota.

File info, 1 operation

  • get_file_infoGet file infoGETReturns a file's name, size in bytes, whether it exceeds the plan limit (preview) and, for text files, its first 10 lines. Does not count against the quota.

Retention, 1 operation

  • update_task_retentionUpdate task retentionPATCHChanges how long a task's files are kept: standard_24h (24 hours, the default) or ttl_15m (15 minutes, paid plans only). On a finished task the expiry is recomputed at once.

Task files, 1 operation

  • delete_task_filesDelete task filesPOSTSchedules the permanent deletion of every file of a task (source, result and artifacts) and returns when it happens. Irreversible. Paid plans only (403 on Free). Download the result first.

Use Conversion Tools from Claude Code, Cursor or Codex

Connect Conversion Tools in LiveContext, create an API key in Settings, then add the LiveContext MCP server to your client. Its Conversion Tools operations become tools the client can call, next to every other integration you connected.

How to connect Conversion Tools

  1. Create your workspace

Sign up free. Nothing to install.

  2. Connect Conversion Tools once

Add your Conversion Tools connection in Settings. Every tool from this integration reuses it, and secrets are encrypted at rest and visible only to you.

  3. Describe the job in chat

The workflow builds itself in front of you and picks the endpoints it needs. Drag the steps yourself on the canvas whenever you would rather be explicit.
