Integration

Contribly integration

Contribly is a newsroom platform for collecting reader contributions (photos, videos, text, form answers) through call-outs called assignments. Read published contributions, assignments, tags, users and forms, filter contributions by assignment, place, date or moderation state, create assignments, tags and forms, submit text contributions and form responses, moderate, flag or like contributions, and export contributions. Media file upload, notification subscriptions, token and credential management and the realtime websocket feed are not exposed. Authentication is a Contribly access token sent as a Bearer token; it is obtained from Contribly's token endpoint with your API client credentials and Contribly username and password. Published content can be read with any valid token.

Say what should happen.
The workflow builds itself.

When this happens, do that in Contribly.Built from the 35 Contribly tools below, on the connection you add once.

What you can do with Contribly

Each of these is one operation on one endpoint, available both as a workflow step and as a tool an AI agent can call on its own. Nothing bundles several operations into one action, so what a run did stays readable afterwards.

Most endpoints run on the free plan. A few, mainly the ones that publish on your behalf, need a paid plan.

Assignment, 4 operations

  • create_assignmentCreate assignmentPOSTCreates an assignment (a call-out for contributions) with its name, description, dates and submission rules. Requires a token allowed to create assignments.
  • delete_assignmentDelete assignmentDELETEDeletes an assignment and all of its contributions.
  • get_assignmentGet assignmentGETReturns one assignment with its dates, settings, tags, cover image and attached form.
  • list_assignmentsList assignmentsGETLists assignments (call-outs for contributions), filtered by owner, text, tag, name, URL slug or open state, with pagination.

Contribution, 4 operations

  • create_contributionCreate contributionPOSTSubmits a text contribution, optionally to an assignment and with a location. New contributions wait in the moderation queue until a moderator approves them.
  • delete_contributionDelete contributionDELETEDeletes a contribution. The deletion is accepted at once and processed in the background; the answer is the contribution being deleted.
  • get_contributionGet contributionGETReturns one contribution with its text, attribution, tags, place and media renditions.
  • list_contributionsList contributionsGETLists contributions, newest first unless order is asc, filtered by assignment, owner, user, tag, place, country, dates, media type, moderation state, likes or text, with pagination. Contributions awaiting moderation are not public.

Form, 4 operations

  • create_formCreate formPOSTCreates a form (a set of questions contributors answer).
  • delete_formDelete formDELETEDeletes a form and all of its responses.
  • get_formGet formGETReturns one form with its fields.
  • list_formsList formsGETLists the forms owned by an account, with their fields.

Form response, 3 operations

  • create_form_responseCreate form responsePOSTSubmits a response to a form, optionally linked to a contribution.
  • get_form_responseGet form responseGETReturns one form response with its answers.
  • list_form_responsesList form responsesGETLists form responses, filtered by form, user or contribution. Requires a token allowed to view form responses.

Tag, 3 operations

  • create_tagCreate tagPOSTCreates a tag that can be applied to contributions and assignments.
  • get_tagGet tagGETReturns one tag with its name, URL slug, colour and tag set.
  • list_tagsList tagsGETLists tags, filtered by owner, tag set or URL slug.

  • create_tagsetCreate tagsetPOSTCreates a tag set, a named group of related tags.
  • get_tagsetGet tagsetGETReturns one tag set (a named group of tags).
  • list_tagsetsList tagsetsGETLists tag sets (groups of related tags), filtered by owner or URL slug.

Export, 2 operations

  • create_exportCreate exportPOSTStarts an export of the contributions matching the given filters, with their text and media. Returns an export job; follow it with get_export until it finishes, then download from its downloadUrl.
  • get_exportGet exportGETReturns an export job started by create_export: its step, progress, finish time and, once finished, the downloadUrl of the export file.

User, 2 operations

  • get_userGet userGETReturns one user's public profile.

Contribution refinement, 1 operation

  • list_contribution_refinementsList contribution refinementsGETFor a contribution filter, returns the available refinement values and their counts (for example the number of contributions per assignment), to build filter options.

  • get_export_summaryGet export summaryPOSTPreviews an export: how many contributions and media files the given filters select and the estimated size, without starting it.

Flag, 1 operation

  • list_moderation_actionsList moderation actionsGETLists the moderation actions moderate_contribution accepts (for example approve, reject, defer, refer-to-legal), each with the moderation state it leads to and whether that state is public.

Verify, 1 operation

  • verify_tokenVerify tokenPOSTChecks the access token in use and returns its owning user, API client and granted scopes.

Use Contribly from Claude Code, Cursor or Codex

Connect Contribly in LiveContext, create an API key in Settings, then add the LiveContext MCP server to your client. Its Contribly operations become tools the client can call, next to every other integration you connected.

How to connect Contribly

  1. Create your workspace

Sign up free. Nothing to install.

  2. Connect Contribly once

Add your Contribly connection in Settings. Every tool from this integration reuses it, and secrets are encrypted at rest and visible only to you.

  3. Describe the job in chat

The workflow builds itself in front of you and picks the endpoints it needs. Drag the steps yourself on the canvas whenever you would rather be explicit.
