Color Name API integration
The Color Name API (color.pizza) gives human-friendly names to colors. Send hex values and get back the closest named color from a chosen name list (a hand-picked default list of about 32,000 names, plus lists such as bestOf, html, x11, ral, xkcd or wikipedia), with RGB, HSL and Lab values, luminance and the best contrasting text color; search colors by name; list the available name lists; and render an SVG swatch of a color. Not included: the Socket.io live feed, the health check and the HTML docs page. The API is open and needs no credential.

What you can do with Color Name API
Each of these is one operation on one endpoint, available both as a workflow step and as a tool an AI agent can call on its own. Nothing bundles several operations into one action, so what a run did stays readable afterwards.
Most endpoints run on the free plan. A few, mainly the ones that publish on your behalf, need a paid plan.
List, 1 operation
list_color_listsList color listsGETWithout list, returns the keys of every available color name list and a description of each; with list, returns the description of that one list (title, source, license and number of colors).
Name, 1 operation
search_colors_by_nameSearch colors by nameGETSearches color names for a term with fuzzy matching (Levenshtein distance, so typos and partial words still match) and returns the matching colors, best first, each with a similarity score and its hex, RGB, HSL and Lab values.
Swatch, 1 operation
get_color_swatchGet color swatchGETRenders an SVG swatch of one color (a filled square with its hex value, and the color name underneath when name is given), returned as a stored image file.
V1, 1 operation
get_color_namesGet color namesGETNames colors: for each hex value in values, returns the closest named color of the chosen list with its hex, RGB, HSL and Lab values, luminance, best contrasting text color and distance from the requested color.
Use Color Name API from Claude Code, Cursor or Codex
Connect Color Name API in LiveContext, create an API key in Settings, then add the LiveContext MCP server to your client. Its Color Name API operations become tools the client can call, next to every other integration you connected.
claude mcp add --transport http livecontext https://livecontext.ai/mcp --header "X-API-Key: YOUR_API_KEY"[mcp_servers.livecontext]

}How to connect Color Name API
- Create your workspace
Sign up free. Nothing to install.
- Connect Color Name API once
Color Name API needs no credential, so its tools work immediately.
- Describe the job in chat
The workflow builds itself in front of you and picks the endpoints it needs. Drag the steps yourself on the canvas whenever you would rather be explicit.
