Chomp Food API integration

Chomp is a food and nutrition database of about 1.2 million branded grocery products and raw ingredients. Look up a packaged food by its UPC/EAN barcode, search branded foods by name or by brand, category, country, ingredient, allergen, diet, nutrient, vitamin or mineral, and get nutrients per 100 g, ingredients, allergens, diet compatibility and packaging photos; raw ingredients come with nutrient ranges, portions and conversion factors. The Limited plan opens only the barcode lookup; name, filtered and ingredient searches need a Standard or Premium plan. The recipe routes of the discontinued Recipe Data API are not exposed. Authentication is an API key sent as the api_key query parameter.

The workflow builds itself.

When this happens, do that in Chomp Food API.Built from the 4 Chomp Food API tools below, on the connection you add once.

What you can do with Chomp Food API

Each of these is one operation on one endpoint, available both as a workflow step and as a tool an AI agent can call on its own. Nothing bundles several operations into one action, so what a run did stays readable afterwards.

Most endpoints run on the free plan. A few, mainly the ones that publish on your behalf, need a paid plan.

Search, 2 operations

  • search_branded_foodsSearch branded foodsGETSearches branded foods by any combination of filters: brand, category, country, ingredient, allergen, trace, diet, keyword, nutrient, vitamin, mineral or palm-oil ingredient. Returns up to 10 foods per page. Standard and Premium plans only.
  • search_ingredientsSearch ingredientsGETLooks up raw or generic ingredients (not branded products), one or up to 10 comma-separated terms in one call, and returns for each match its nutrients (per 100 g with min, max and median), portions, components and conversion factors.

Barcode, 1 operation

  • get_food_by_barcodeGet food by barcodeGETReturns the branded food matching a UPC/EAN barcode: name, brand, ingredients, nutrients per 100 g, serving and package size, allergens, diet compatibility and packaging photos. Answers 404 when no food has that barcode.

Name, 1 operation

  • search_foods_by_nameSearch foods by nameGETSearches branded foods by a general food name (it need not match the official product name exactly) and returns up to 10 foods per page with their full nutrition, ingredient and allergen data. Standard and Premium plans only.

Use Chomp Food API from Claude Code, Cursor or Codex

Connect Chomp Food API in LiveContext, create an API key in Settings, then add the LiveContext MCP server to your client. Its Chomp Food API operations become tools the client can call, next to every other integration you connected.
