BC Laws integration
BC Laws (CiviX Server API) is the King's Printer's free library of British Columbia legislation. Browse the statutes and regulations by index and folder, search their full text with highlighted snippets, and read any act or regulation as structured XML or HTML, whole or narrowed to one section or definition with an XPath expression. Answers are XML or HTML text. Content is licensed under the King's Printer Licence. No authentication is needed.

The workflow builds itself.
What you can do with BC Laws
Each of these is one operation on one endpoint, available both as a workflow step and as a tool an AI agent can call on its own. Nothing bundles several operations into one action, so what a run did stays readable afterwards.
Most endpoints run on the free plan. A few, mainly the ones that publish on your behalf, need a paid plan.
Content, 3 operations
list_aspectList aspectGETLists the top level of a BC Laws content group (aspect) as XML: its indexes, such as statreg (Statutes and Regulations), with their identifiers. Start here and drill down with list_directory.list_directoryList directoryGETLists the folders of one index as XML, for example the letter folders (-- A --, -- B --) of statreg. Pass an index id from list_aspect; to open a folder (type dir), use list_folder.list_folderList folderGETLists the entries inside one folder of an index as XML: the acts of a letter folder, an act's documents, its tables of legislative changes or point-in-time versions. For an entry of type document, read it with get_document_xml.
Search, 2 operations
highlight_in_document_htmlHighlight in document htmlGETReturns one BC Laws document as an HTML page with every occurrence of a word or phrase highlighted.highlight_in_document_xmlHighlight in document xmlGETReturns one BC Laws document as XML with every occurrence of a word or phrase marked, to locate the sections that mention it.
Document, 1 operation
get_document_xpathGet document xpathGETReturns only the parts of a BC Laws XML document that match an XPath expression, for example one definition or one section, instead of the whole act.
Fullsearch, 1 operation
search_legislationSearch legislationGETFull-text search across a BC Laws content group. Returns XML with one <doc> per matching document (title, document and index ids, hit count) and text fragments around each hit. At most 100 hits per call.
Id, 1 operation
get_document_htmlGet document htmlGETReturns one BC Laws document (an act, regulation or table of legislative changes) rendered as an HTML page, ready to display.
Xml, 1 operation
get_document_xmlGet document xmlGETReturns one BC Laws document as its source XML (title, chapter, year enacted, parts, sections, definitions), the best form for reading or extracting legislation text.
Use BC Laws from Claude Code, Cursor or Codex
Connect BC Laws in LiveContext, create an API key in Settings, then add the LiveContext MCP server to your client. Its BC Laws operations become tools the client can call, next to every other integration you connected.

}How to connect BC Laws
- Create your workspace
Sign up free. Nothing to install.
- Connect BC Laws once
BC Laws needs no credential, so its tools work immediately.
- Describe the job in chat
The workflow builds itself in front of you and picks the endpoints it needs. Drag the steps yourself on the canvas whenever you would rather be explicit.
